I'll try to go nutshell though..
If the body maintains the same amount of protein in it's tissues from day to day, it is in nitrogen balance. If the body adds protein it is in a positive nitrotgen balance. If it loses protein, it is in a negative nitrogen balance.
In order to build muscle tissue, one has to attempt to maintain a positive nitrogen balance. Having excessive amounts of protein allows one to build muscle.
There are MANY ways to aid one's self in maintaining a positive nitrogen balance but the easiest answer for you is to consume roughly 1g/lb of your weight per day in protein and spread your intake out over the course of 5-6 meals... eating or drinking protein q 2-3 hours.
