Nitro-Tech bars - lab analysis?

Can anyone point me towards an independant lab analysis of Nitro-Tech bars that verifies their carb content? According to the label they contain 6 grams of carbs, four grams of that being fiber and two grams being sugars.

I tried the bars for the first time yesterday. They taste GREAT! As a matter of fact - they taste too good. There is no way in hell a bar with only two grams of usuable carbs has this kind of mouth feel and taste.

Secondarily, I strongly suspect the bars have a high enough sugar content that they are making me hold water. My body is reacting exactly this morning like it would following a couple high carb meals.

Does anyone have a link to the skinny on Nitro-Tech bars?

The nitro tech bars are not listing the glycerol in the carb count.

I did the math, and on average, each bar contains:

calories: 290

protein 35

fat 7

Total actual carbs (including glycerol and fiber) 17.25

Remember that glycerol and fiber have basically 0 impact on blood sugar and really don't need to be counted.

I don't have the article anymore, but I have read where nitro tech bars tested right at 100 % of their label claims.

Hell, they had better for right at $3.00 per bar!

They are BY FAR the best tasting bars avalible! (low carb)

Forgive me for being "glycerol" ignorant... but is glycerol going to make people hold water. I've been doing some ALA/r-ALA experiments... and the Nitro-Tech bars seem to be screwing the results.

those bars are loaded with glycerol, which Muscle-Tech does not list.....how convinient, there is an easy way to check, just look at the calories and add up the nutrients listed, carbs 1g=4cals, prot 1g=4cals, fats 1g=9cals, if calories dont add up then the bar is loaded with glycerol

Yes, glycerol does cause water retention. Some endurance athletes use it to super-hydrate themselves before events.

glycerol posseses osmotic properties, it tends to pull water from under the skin and push it into the muscle

To quote Shakespeare - this sucks donkey dicks.

I've been trying to evaluate r-ALA and ALA... keeping my meals and those of test subjects very exact... then I get the bright idea to use Nitro-Tech bars to help keep a tight lid on carb counts... and suddenly everybody jumps up 2 lbs over night.

Does anybody know how long it takes for glycerol water to go away? A day? Two days? A week?

carb depleate for a day or two, and you will piss it out

Serge is correct, it is NOT the glycerol that is causing you to hold water, it actually causes NO rise in blood sugar leves, as is, NO insulin spike. It is still 4 calories per gram like a carb, but it is classified as a "sugar alcohol". Almost all carb bars have glycerol as an ingreedient, but not all list them as a "carbohydrate". The FDA is starting to require that all food manufactures start listing the glycerol content, either in the "carbohydrate" section, or in a sub catigory - "sugar alcohol".
For example, the new designer whey bars look like they have 19-22 carbs at first glance, but then there is an"*" and it is explained that those carbs come mostly from glycerol.

Glycerol is a wonderful energy source which causes no rise in blood sugar! :D
