can anybody teach us to number our days(knight69)It is always a joy to plan a surprise for someone you love. Human beings were created to be able to plan. Scientists have only begun to understand the amazing capacity of the human mind. But our minds realize only a fraction of their potential! If Adam and Eve had never sinned, what amazing developments the people of this world would share by now!
God shared with us the ability to be creative and to plan, because He loves us so. He is the infinite Creator. He is the Supreme Planner. What is God planning for today? His greatest plans are not how to coordinate things on earth. His greatest plans are for the wonderful future. Everything that is related to our world today is temporary; eternity's plans are forever.
Listen to this! " I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, " plans to prosper you...plans to give you hope and a future" (Jer.29:11). "Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare" (Ps. 40: 5). The good things God has already done are but a small beginning token of all He plans to do for us. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Is.55:9). "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him" (1 Cor. 2:9). God is trying to say to you and me, "Oh! If you only knew all the joys, the experiences, the rewards I am planning for you!"
Beyond all your dreams!
"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create......I will rejoice.....and take delight in my people" (Is. 65:17-19).
The future rewards God plans for you will be so amazing, so blessedly fulfilling, so satisfying that you will forget all the problems, trials, and the disappointments of your life today. It will be worth every effort you have ever expended, every pressure you have endured, every price you ever paid to obey God and choose His highest will.
God will never be in debt to anyone. He will reward above and beyond what we could ever expect or deserve. This will be His great joy-to lavish joy and reward on you. "Our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all" (2Cor. 4:17). We may experience weeping at times during earth's night. But eternal joy comes in God's great morning (Ps.30:5).
"Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed" (Rom. 8:18-19).
It will take all of eternity to experience all God is planning for you. Even so, the glory and extent of reward God will give you is dependent on how you live your life today. Reward is according to life. Reward is above and beyond anything we would ever conceive or desire. But reward is according to life. How you live today to some extent sets limits on all God will gladly give you in reward. You will reap above and beyond all you sow, but you will reap according to what you sow.
This fact makes it so important to understand the role of the way we live. I also make it important that we measure our life according to the same measurement God uses. What is your life? Be encouraged!
