newbie question: what does eating clean mean?

the meaning is different for everyone:

for me, it's staying away from processed sugas and unhealthy fat, a lot of fiber and good supplementation

Clean eating: NOT mcdonals/no BK/no KFC...just home made clean food, i.e. oatmeal/chicken breasts w/o skin/veggies etc.

It means you should wash your hands thoroughly before you sit down for a meal (especially after a workout). You should also make sure that your silverware is free of any foreign particles. Foreign particles on forks and spoons (e.g. bits of dried oatmeal) that have been there for more than 12-16 hours have been implicated in muscle catabolism and abdominal obesity in one Swedish study. Granted the study was not randomized or double-blinded, but to be on the safe side, I would use plastic, disposable silverware if I were you. Good luck, and be clean.

mines pretty close to Mr X, in that remove as many saturated fats as possible and try and get a lot of your calores from good carb sources

So, serious answer: for me eating "clean" is...

moderate amount of low GI carbs
low fat protein sources
low, but not too low, fat
