Why do NYC city cops get paid the least and work in the more dangerous areas and also need the most credentials compared to the Nassau and Suffolk cops?

The following provides a little background on the needed credentials:

You need 60 college credits before you become a NYC cop.
You need 30 college credits before you become a Nassau cop.
You need 0 college credits before you become a Suffolk cop.

****Suffolk cops make the most money and work in less dangerous areas.

Please give your opinions on this unfair treatment. Hopefully, I get some responses from former or current NY cops. NY cops, please reply as I am very curious. Thanks.

I know someone who moved from texas to suffolk county to be a suffolk county cop. That's all I got.

It's county politics, nothing more to it than that. The unfortuante side effect is you get a higher proportion of DICKS in the force out there ebcause you get guys/women who are in it for money and will do shady crap to get overtime pay.

yeah..

politics and money/funding in long island is very different. it's basically the suburbs. you can say the same for alot of nearby NJ suburbs
