New Tires change everything??

Ok. I hate my car. So when I've gotten flat tires over the past year (about 4!) I always go buy a used one.....I know I shouldnt, but I just hate spending $$$ on that damn car...anyway.
A few months ago my car would start shaking at over 70mph (which is not good because I really find it hard to drive 70 on the freeway)...I mean REALLY shake! It would shake so bad that when you talk , you voice would vibrtate!! :(
Anyway, then it started doing it at like 50mph!!
I asked a neighbor and he said that his car did the same and that it was because all my tires were different and used, and thats why it shook so bad---all the treads were different....
Well, the other day, I was driving to work (in the rain I might add ) and all of a sudden my car starts fishtailing and then I hear the sound of a flat tire!! Well, we (me and my b/f) took the tire off and there was an area about 6 inches long and 3 inches wide where the METAL part was showing!! I had just driven on the freeway the day before with my daughter- which is scary cuz I could've had a blowout!!
I ended up getting all 4 brand new tires since the other 3 were pretty much at the end of their rope, too.
Well, my car feels like brand new!!!!!! Every thing that I felt was wrong with it (it shook, didnt stop right, slid on wet roads, etc) was due to the tires...it rides sooo smooth now!!
I really think they need to have some kind of light in your car that tells you when you need all new tires....I had no idea.

back in high school, I had a chevy malibu. I put 4 new goodyear eagles on it, and went cruising. I wanted to see how good these tire where. I came upon a tight curve in the road and put the petal to the floor. The car reached about 65 mph when I hit a patch of ice!!!!! The next thing I remember was hitting a tree head on at over 60 mph. Thank God I was wearing my seat belt!
We climbed out of the car and saw that the moter had come through the firewall and the drive shaft ripped out the rearend. I was ok...but my spine had go twisted...(now I live with lower back pain) No broken bones or even any cuts. My friend got burned in the face from a cup of coffe and bruises on his arms and legs. Live and learn.....Now I drive slow. I'll try and dig up some pics, if someone could post them.

I wonder if I dated you, in a past life.

You get what you pay for when it comes to performance.

I learned that the hard way too. Sometimes it is not worth saving a buck if it jeapardizes your safety.

It's good to hear that you are safe (daughter included). It could have been a lot worse. People die every year from simple blow-outs at highway speed, loose control and don't live to tell about it.

Might be a good idea to get a 4 wheel alignment right now too. There is a reason the tires were worn to the steel radials in that one spot.

The alignment will be cheaper than another set of tires.
