Both clenbuterol and salbutamol fall into the class of pharmaceutics known as beta 2-agonists. Beta 2-agonists are known to have anabolic properties while also stimulating basal metabolism. Thus, they're popular with bodybuilders, fitness chicks, and even people on the rave scene. Cimaterol is the newest beta-2 agonist to enter the market and it's been making quite a splash in the medical and fitness worlds.
At a dose of 0.15 milligram per kilogram administered subcutaneously (sub-Q), Cimaterol has been found to:
• Save muscle in burn victims, who often catabolize at a rate none of us even want to think about.
• Enhance protein accretion (the net uptake of amino acids into muscles) by up to 260% greater than control.
• Prevent muscle breakdown in cancer patients (tumor-induced catabolism).
• Enhance muscle protein synthesis even in states of stress.
Sounds like a winner! In short, Cimaterol may just be the ideal beta 2-agonist since it stimulates fat loss, helps retain muscle, promotes protein synthesis at the muscle cell level and appears to be safe enough that it's being researched in cancer patients.
Currently, American Cyanamid states that 50% lethal doses are 1973 mg/kg and 1745 mg/kg for male and female rats respectively. Since the human dose is estimated to be no more than 50 mg/d, its toxicity doesn't look like it would be a problem.
Most of the data is in animals and not humans, but that hasn't stopped many people from using it for fat loss and muscle growth. If you read Chinese, a paper by Liu in the Chinese Journal of Pharmaceuticals describes how to synthesize the drug and by now, I'm almost sure tablet forms of Cimaterol exist.
