Killah - I think my nexdt sitting I will be adding on to it up top where the water ends. I want something to wrap in front of my trap...possibly another lotus. The fish will be done last. The colors will last quite a while as long as you keep it out of the sun.
Rnch -Yes it is! I had my labrae pierced back in college for a couple months but I didn't like it all too much...thought I would get in a fight and get my lip split in half.

I love what the koi fish represents. If I were ever going to get a tattoo, I would consider a koi-dragon. It is a koi morphing into a dragon. That is part of the story of perserverance and ultimate transformation.
Awesome love the colours. I was in Hard & Huntington yesterday looking through books kinda got the itch to get something again or add to the one I currently have.

Yonkers weights - Sorry, didn't see your questions, you were blacked out. I am 3.5 hours in and as it is I have another 2-3 hours left depending on what type of koi I get it colored in as. But I want to add something on my trap so probably about 3-4 hours left.

The Clockwork - My best friend from college drew the rough sketch. I told him I wanted a koi fish swimming across a lotus flower, he drew it, and my artist redrew it to what she wanted.
Heather - I have never met anyone else that knows the whole story behind the meaning of this tattoo. Very cool! Any suggestion of what to put above the water next to the lotus? I spoke to this one girl who knows a lot about asian culture and she said something about a candle or bamboo.

Bobber it is a butterfly sitting on a trilliam flower. I got it when I turned 25 it was a coming of age thing repersenting what I had become and where I came from. I still love it one of my best friends did a water colour panting for me of my idea then I brought it into the artist and he reworked it for a tat. I am thinking of adding to the sides make it go all across the lower back but I am not real sure what to fill it in with. I had thought of a tribute to my father in there somewhere but not real sure how to work it balance wise etc.Bobber said:

Wow, I don't know what looks better...your back or the tat! I think it would be super sexy if you had it going alll the way across your lower back. You can put a tribute to your dad back there but then i think it would be really weird for your bf/hubby to have to stare at him while doing the deed.
Thanks that pic is a few years old my back has gotten better so have my shoulders and arms. I will post some pics again once I peel a bit more of this fat off.Bobber said:
I am having an issue with where is an good place to put the tat for him I want it to be somewhere that is still mostly covered but also not really a sexual area either. My idea is to have a small heart with the colours of the german flag saying "vater" which is father in german. Maybe on the inside of my ankle. I really love the blues in your tat makes me want to add some blue to mine so vivid and beautiful.

Well, bamboo would be a good choice. It symbolizes resilience and honesty. The bamboo bends in the wind, but does not break. It also is often given as a gift for good luck. I think that the artist could easily work that in and it would give a bit of masculinity next to the beauty of the lotus.Bobber said:

I think that would tie in well with the rest of the symbolism of the tattoo, but you would have to decide if that would make your tattoo look too feminine.
There are plenty of other cool chinese art motifs, such as bats, coins, fu dogs, lions, tigers, dragons, frogs, cats, etc etc etc. However, most of those could not be done so small and still look good. Otherwise, they risk making the tattoo too busy and ruining the aesthetics of it, I think.
I think I like your friend's bamboo idea best.

Since that day I have not tanned my back and my front is a complete different shade than now, lol! The less sun the longer it will stay. I figure with the silver nitrate cream before I go out to the pool or beach and I will be ok.

Nice detail. Personally Im not a big fan of koi fish or many other japannese art. But I like how this is coming out. I just got my first tat about a month ago. Im worried a little about fading too because mine is color as well since im always out in the sun without my shirt, but you can always get it recolored i think.
