I was watching 20/20 and I seen all of the damage hurricane K. caused and it was so different than I imagined (don't have t.v in college). How did it do so much damage, there were water marks that appeared very close to some ceilings...do any efers live there?

A few did. NO is below sea level, so when the levees broke it filled in like a fishbowl.
