Hi,
I need a diet, that isn't necessarily for bulking or cutting, i just want it to be balanced. It's hard b/c I work a 8-6 job- lift at 7. i tried cutting out carbs, but i have no energy during the day, or at the gym for that matter. by doing this i did lose size. right now im 167 lbs, i was up to 175. my diet was/is as follows:

730 protein shake (with water)

930 egg white omlete with veggies and trukey

1100 protein bar

100 grilled chicken salad

400 protein bar

630 or 7 gym

830 chicken or pork with veggies

1030 protein shake.

i want to get my size back, but i also want to lose some of my gut- where should i add my carbs?

You should also worry about eating the right carbs. Good carbs have low Glycemic (GI) levels, bad carbs have high GI levels. Carbs with high GI levels produce fat storage and high insulin levels.

Bad carbs would consist of pizzia, white bread, potatoes, rice, bagles. Good carbs would be fruits, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms, peas, spinach, sweet potatoes, all beans, pasta, Special K, wheat or multi-grain bread, Oatmeal, all nuts, lean cousine's Chicken Primavera, Teriyaki Stir Fry, or Chicken Chow Mein, and even (2) Fig Newtons and Snickers bars are good.

Stick to those carbs, minizmize eating carbs after 5:00 p.m., 50% of your diet should be from carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fat.

All this info came from the March edition of Muscle Media.

you cannot lose fat and gain fat free mass at the same time (assuming your natural of course).

You can try to add size with minimal fat gains, or lose fat with minimal muscle gains. Pick one of the priorities and ask again as these are very different goals.

the diet you listed is AWFUL. You should eliminate the powders and bars and eat any of these in their place:fish, chicken, turkey,a bit of red meat

i see your in NYC, there is alot of places where u can go in for 4.99 get a pound of hot food.......the place where i go for lunch serves GRILLED chicken breast ,so i get about a pound of that and veggies thats my meal 3:)

another thing is if you goto this places 4.99 per pound......u can eat the portion of chicken at one meal than at the office re microwave it for another meal:)

why are bars and powders bad?

I don't understand why it makes a difference where your nutrients come from: "real" foods or manufactured foods, such as bars. Can anyone explain this to me?
