negative physilogical aspects of alcohol consumption?

tried a search and could find the answers i was looking for. you guys are all about no drinking for it's hinderance of gains. i agree and believe it will. however...going to a crazy halloween party and plan on having a few. question is: just exactly what does the alcohol do that negates gains? i know it depletes alpha lipoic acid, and folic acid...i plan on grabbing a few bottles to supplement with to counteract the neg. effects. what else can i do/supplement with to help me get back on track sooner? also plan on drinking protein shakes throughout the night.
 
Having a few drinks is one thing and getting completely blown away is another....Alchol slows down the digestion of the nutreints that your muscles so preciously needs and not to mention the fact that you will feel like shit the next day.So if your gonna do it make sure the next day is not a training day.
