The city i live in has a needle exchange clinic, so i just bring in my old pins and get the same amount of pins back for only 5cents each! Normally a box of 100 BD pins costs around 30 bucks, so this clinic is a lifesaver!!

If your city doesn't offer this service, put the caps back on them, wrap them in a plastic bag or two, and dispose in a public trashcan. Same with all your other supplies.
I don't want anybody to accidentally stick themselves, so I take a pair of heavy-duty scissors (wire cutters would work too), and cut the needles into pieces before throwing them away. I cut up the barrel too. Only takes a second.
