Need Stock picks for Finance class! HELP!

Hey,

So I have to do this project over the semester. I gotta follow four stocks -

I need to create portfolio of 2 US Based Multinational Corps. and 2 foreign stocks.

I have to follow them over the semester but later in the semester I will have to pick one and write a lengthy paper about...

so...
Can you guys suggests some good stocks to pick for the project?
Some that have enough information that the paper should not be too difficult. Or any ideas of some interesting stocks... I was think BMW, etc.. I would appreciate

I basically have to open a YAHOO finance account and pretend I have 100K
Thanks!

KO - Coke. Very multinational and huge.

MCD - McDonalds - again, multinational and huge.

DEO - A foreign holding company that owns Guinness/Bass, for some time owned Burger King, and has a series of other vaguely interesting investments. (should double check to see if they actually are foreign based, if not, there is another beverage one that might be interesting but I don't recall exactly what it is - LVHY or something like that - champagne and luxury goods)

RNR - Renaissance Reinsurance. Bermuda based reinsurance company.

That would give you 4 companies, 2 that are domestic based but multinational, and 2 that are foreign based.

I don't even know if LVHN is the one I was thinking of - if they are vaguely French sounding and deal with luxury goods, then that is them.

As for what exchange, I don't know off the top of my head.

I thought the one I had in mind had a Y at the end. LVMHY or something.

Yahoo Finance won't connect for my right now or else I would look up more for you - these are just off the top of my head.

DEO is Deigo PLC (not sure of the spelling on that) - they also own Pillsbury too I think.

Also might want to consider Gillette - G - they own the razors of course, but also batteries and other things.

Damn I know!!! trying to get the Yahoo finance up so I can start this project for tonight!! I still gotta pick them and then allocate them.. Gillette good idea. Would like to do some stocks that I have an interest or actually the products

OMG is thinking of LVMH - French company (Moet Henessy Louis Vuitton).

Not sure where they aer traded - but would be an itneresting study espceuially if you wanted to get into the
socio-economic ramifications of luxury goods, fakes and the like.

DEO is Diageo - they owned Burger King for a while - interesting story of mismanagment there, might be fun to watch as they have a history of fucking up.

Don't overlook the Daimler corporation either - their purchase of Chrysler and trying to make it work has been an interesting story of fuck ups and comebacks.

But is Daimler/Chrysler a domestic or foreign company now?

What was wrong with MY pick?

Check it out! Bigggg company that has their finger's in a ton of stuff!

It's cuz I don't have a penis, right? lol

:-)

Of course DC seems to be trade on both exchanges

DCX is the symbol for the DaimlerChrysler Share, the first truly global share. On these following pages, we offer you a wide variety of information related to the shares, the results of DaimlerChrysler and our integrated, value-based controlling system.

damn.. so far

Foreign HBC and DCX (HSBC and Damiler Chrysler)

Domestic PFE Pfizer and Gillette (well tentatively)

Gotta love the spelling of a grad student!

I was actually going to recommend HSBC - they just bought out Bank of Bermuda here and it has caused quite a commotion.
The company I last worked for dealt a lot with Pfizer and my father used to work for Merck.
Gillette is interesting in that they do much more than what you would expect - RJR is like that as well.

OMGWTFBBQ, Where are you?

So I am trying to decide between GE/Gillette

I'm in Bermuda.

Since you aren't really investing in the companies and it doesn't sound like your project involves how your portfolio performs - it really doesn't matter which you choose.

Pick one that has a larger amount of data readily available for free.

Like half your clasee will choose GE

I am down here because my fiancee is from here.

Is this project to see who performs best in terms of portfolio performance?
Or is it just to write about the experience?

Well the class is a bunch of jokes so Im assuming its just to track and see ... perhaps make profit.. but more discuss what affect stock .. in this class its a big yawn....

But I wil have to write paper on one of them.. Gonna go with Gillette.. guess the 1/4 each
