Need help transferring filtered solution from complete filter unit to vials.

Looking for some advice on what is the best way to transfer my filtered, sterile solution from the Millipore complete filter unit to my vials?

What do you guys normally do? Best suggestions?

I only ask because there doesnt seem to be a way to get it from the bottom(filtered) unit into the vials without exposing it to the air? Does it matter?

Thanks!

Try to make sure your environment is as sterile as possible and there isn't a vent, fan or anything stirring the air, have a mask on so you don't breathe into it and IMO that'll be good enough. I haven't had problems of any sort doing it that way.

Thanks Melochai, I was already doing that but in the quest for perfection I thought that greater minds might be doing something else.

So far I have had zero problems also. I sterilize my room, walls celiling, floors, I run a HEPA unit 24 hours in adavance, sterilize all equipment, surfaces, use gloves, mask...I actually realized I should probably be using somthing for the hair too.

I just recently stepped up my brews to 300ml to 500ml at a time and am new to the complete filter units.

I figured I would ask...thanks again for the response!!!!

They make a lid for the sterile bottles its called a septa:
45mm Silicone Septa (Qty. 10) | Caps | Media Bottles | Lab Glassware | Med Lab Supply
With this lid.

You are supposed to use a needle at the end of the syringe probably like an 18 guage to draw through the septa for an extreme sterile condition.
But this is all for the most part unnecesary if you autoclave your gear.

I used those once. Pieces of them came apart in my gear. Maybe i had it in wrong? i don't remember if the grey side or the silicon side was against the gear, but after that one time I just did it the other way.

BTW, which side should be on the gear side?

So pretty much you are transferring your filtered gear into a larger, sterile and sealed bottle, then just via syringe transferring little by little into 10ml vals?
