Need help: Red bumps after body wax?

|D_J^B_J|

New member
Got a full body wax a week ago for the first time, and I still have these red bumps all over my chest and back... It looks like I've got severe body acne or something!

I've been applying some lotion for ingrown hairs to my chest, but it doesn't seem to be working... What can I use to make them go away?

Thanks

Bump.

Anyone able to help?

My doctor prescribed me some anti-biotics three days ago and said it shouldn't scar... but it still isn't going away... How long does it take for the anti-biotics to kick in?

why would you take anti-biotics ? your doctor is insane........ those go away in like 2 weeks, sometimes longer........ you dont need to be on anti-biotics !!

relax, your fine...... it just takes time.

Are you sure? It's been 1.5 weeks now and I look like I have severe acne all over my back, chest and shoulders.... It hurts too.

Don't worry about it! I see that happen to many many people...

Some people show no signs of irritation, others look as if they have contracted a horrible skin disease, Don't worry you haven't.. As Maverick mentioned .. No need for antibiotics... Thats silly!

It also depends on your sensitivity and if the root of your hair is particularly large, It is normal to turn red and for the skin to develop small, red bumps everywhere. This is only temporary and usually only lasts for 24 hours sometimes longer! ;)

Anitbiotics....?? How silly! Stop those, they are going to harm more than help
Exfoliation is the best thing for in-grown hairs.
Take a loofah (sp?) and exfoliate the area.

Yeah and a ton of ppl getting C diff. Killing good flora is horrible for the body.
Doctors are less educated about the body that most homeopaths and Natropaths. They learn from pharmacuticals!

I don't think they are ingrown hairs.... I tried to take a photo of my shoulders with my phone so you can see what it looks like, but I can't seem to upload it onto my comp...

Also I applied some exfoliating lotion for the first few days and have been taking these anti-biotics for four days but they're still there...

They look like thick red acne spots, and they hurt and itch like crazy. Surely someone else has experienced this before?

you are not listening, I have seen people with these marks for 2 to 3 weeks after a wax......... when they go away you will come back and say we are right.

relax and stop symptom surfing on google.

Ok, well I certainly won't be getting waxed again if this is what results from it!

By the time the thick red spots have fully dissappeared, my hair will have probably already grown back.... What a waste!

Is there anything that can be done after getting waxed for people with thick hair and sensitive skin like me to prevent outbreaks like this from occuring?

I know welcome to the world of waxing !!!!

I would suggest either investing in Laser hair removal or do what I do sometimes......... I shave with a high quality hair trimmer with no guard..... it is not as close but I get no irritation and it works pretty good.

try the http://www.shaveeverywhere.com/

or use a mach 3 or fusion razor...

and if you are going to wax, I would recommend you exfoliate alot before the wax and then after the wax put a product called www.tendskin.com which is basically aspirin and alcohol.

hope that helps

That's not true. Just because a physician overprescribed antibiotics doesn't make every physician less educated than homeopaths and naturopaths.

For the record, physicians are not trained from the pharmaceutical industry. I don't prescribe drugs based on what the drug reps tell me (actually I don't even see them anymore; I refuse their dinners, visits, etc.). I get my medical knowledge from peer-reviewed journals, which homeopaths and naturopaths lack. Although there is a use in some herbal supplements, many are prescribed by homeopaths and naturopaths without scientific evidence to support their use.

Hmmm, well tomorrow will be two weeks since the wax, and the damn acne bumps (or whatever they are) that I got as a reaction are still there! And they are still itching like hell!

I stopped taking the anti-biotics a couple of days ago and I'm exfoliating with a loofah and anti-bacterial lotion daily.

I'm too embarassed to even wear a singlet at the gym now because my shoulders and back look hideous! These bumps cannot be normal surely!?

My opinion is that the exfoliating on a daily basis is contributing to irritation. Try an OTC cortisone cream for inflammation and itching. If the problem persists and/or gets worse, see a dermatologist.

Good luck!

you should only be exfoliating twice a week, and I would use a cortisone cream or a mild steroid cream as well.

and yes they will go away, do dont start getting all excited on us again :)

It's usual.. when you pull the hair out sometimes the root/ hair seed gets left behind and dies. That blocks the pore, which swells and gets infected. If your pores are open before you wax then you've more chance of pulling the root out, but some people just can't wax without breakouts.

Ok, I just went to the pharmacy and was advised by the pharmacist to use an anti-bacterial lotion called 'isocol' several times daily. It consists of 640mL/L isopropyl alcohol.

I will try that for a few days and see if it gets any better.
