need help looking for new gym shoes

SoreArms

I've owned some cool Assics for the last three years or so that still look pretty awesome 'cause I pretty much only wear them at the gym. I think it's time for new kicks though. Looking for something a little versatile, good running support and most of all cool looking.

what are some cool shoes out there right now?

any one use the Nike shox, or any of the other brands of shock like shoes? Are they any good?

I've been thinking of getting shox for a while but it seems like they would totally fuck up doing squats and I don't want to have to wear a special shoe on leg day.

Plus I've heard they break down fairly quickly. I've seen some of my friends with the shox like detached after 6 months.

Otomix, hottest thing with the muscleboy set....get 'em oversized and wear two pair of thick ass socks with them.

nike shox, any style

do you guys currently use shox? How long have you had them? Anything to add to what chewy wrote about shox?

I'm telling you, Nike's, Adidas and New Balances all fall apart. My Asics last me years and I've washed them 10 times and they look brand new.

Are you anticipating running from the INS?

I've done fairly heavy squats in my shox and never had a problem with stability. My pair is actually still intact too.

Whatever you do don't get K-Swiss. I like their price and style, but those fuggers don't last very long.

I know, if you read my first post I said I've had a pair of Asics for three plus years that still look boss. I want a new pair and jsut wanna see some opinions on whats out there.

I have a pair of New Balance that I use for outdoor stuff, a little over a year old, they still look good too. They wash well.

I did read your post. But, just get another pair of Asics IMO, they look sick.

In my opinion that's the opposite of a good gym shoe. Good for cardio and running, but not for lifting. You want a firm shoe with little or no cushioning and a flat sole. My favorite shoe for lifting is the humble Converse All-Star Chuck Taylor.

You forgot we are talking about El Sorearmos. It's not like he really lifts or anything. ;)

If you need good running shoes, Mizuno is the most comfortable and need very little breaking in. They do wear out pretty quickly. I've owned shox, still have them, and they were great. I was doing 3x12 @ 405 squatting, and had no issues. If you run a lot, go to a store that has a treadmill so you can give them a shot. If you have a wider foot like I do, Adidas and Mizuno would probably be the best.

Yes, they are that bad... I really think they look strange (my opinion) and not at all sexy. :)

If you like a combo shoe, like an approach show thats low profile, Sierra Trading Post has the top brands at about 50-70% off. I bought some cool stuff off that site over the years.

You may like or hate these....
Timberland Actuate

New Balance M808

Asics GT-2100

I like the red and black new balance best.

couldn't agree more.

avoid anything with words like air, and shox in a lifting shoe
