Need help from the Ladies

My question is about alittle scenerio I got going in one of my classes. I'm a guy,which means I'm terrible about picking about signs from girls, when they are interested or not.

So there is this girl in my class that I usually talk to and we group up with acouple other people to do work in class. Well today she handed me her cell phone and told me to put my number in it. Well I didn't want to be like No I should cause I have a girlfriend so I put my number in. Well I don't want to give her the impression that I'm interested in her or anything. She is pretty darn good looking and all but I got a Girlfriend and wouldn't want to start anything with someone else.

This girl will always turn to talk to me and she comments on habits and little things I do while in class. This could mean nothing. Anyways back to the phone number isssue. I was wondering if I should let her know I'm involved with someone, but then if she was just looking to me for help in class and not get involved I'd look like a total ass for just telling her I'm with someone and all.

Let me know what I should do. should I just wait to see if she calls me and if its about class its cool. But if its about what I'm doing that night or something then say something?

I figured she was just wanted help with work in class, cause as she gave it to me she was like cause you know more about this class than me. Then after class I was thinking what she wanted my number for and I don't want to lead her on by giving it to her.

TG- I could ask her what she wanted with it, but If I got some girls # and she asked me next time I saw her what I wanted with her #, I would say "To call you. You dumbass what else would someone do with a phone #". But I see what your getting.
