Need bulking advice please

New member
Ive been training for a little over a year now. Genetics seem very good. Havent juiced yet because I dont beleive my natural potential has been met. My diet is clean. The problem I have is bulking up and figuring out when its time to stop. I have no problem putting on weight. Ok I went from 180 lbs. to 205 in like 3 weeks. My waist went from 32 to almost like 34-35 in that time so I figured its enough then cut up and ended up back down at 180 with 3000+ calories trying to maintain. Months later I tried bulking up again and ended up doing the same thing and going back down to 180. Im sick of bouncing back and forth wasting money on groceries and ending up in the same place. Ive read many of posts here discussing how you shouldnt let b/f exceed 20% when bulking. I want to take a different approach and I want some opinions(greatly appreciated). Next time I bulk I wanna keep eating and eating 5000+ calories a day and possibly more depending if I stop gaining weight. With those calories I can easily get from 180-200 in 2-3 weeks. After that I think ill have to go up maybe 1500-2000 calories. I wanna do whatever it takes to get to 240-250. Im assuming my b/f will get up over 20% considering im bulking without gear. I will be taking creatine and glutamine and lots of protein with a 50/30/20 diet. My goal is to break barriers regardless of how long and how fat I get with the goal of putting on muscle that I couldnt acheive on a 3000 calorie a day diet. I dont compete so im not worried about length of time for bulking and cutting. Has anyone done something similar to this for a long period of time naturally before they started using gear just to break through plateus to reach their natural potential. I know this belongs on the diet board but I would greatly appreciate any advice from this board since my main goal is to promote anabolism. Defnitely considering gear in the future depending on my potential. My training has advanced greatly over the last 13 months ive been lifting and i have gotten stronger and more instinctual. Ive been a board member for quite a while but just been reading up on gear use pretty much. I usually never post anything unless its important. Please dont flame me/just looking for some good advice from the knowledgable experts on the board. Thank you

I just gained 40 lbs in 3 months without steroids and without looking fat and here is the key:eat alot of red meat and fish - carbs should only come from rice,potato,oatmeal-Then once you put on enough mass, you can cut down and keep the muscle

Bulking can be frustrating....once I got to the point where I lost most of my ab visibility and my added mass wasnt nearly enough to make up for it.....

but go w/what diamonddiceclay says...40lbs in 3 mos. is phenomenal....i did 12lbs in 3.5 mos and I was ecstatic

DiamondDice>Just curious as to how many calories a day you were eating in those 3 months. I find it hard to beleive that you gained 40 lbs. in 3 months naturally with very little fat but im not saying you didnt either. Some people cycling gear cant put on 10lbs a year. Did you just start lifting recently or something?

I think you are trying to put on weight too fast for your genetics. Almost anyone will put on a bunch of weight initially, but afterwards the gains are realativly slow and steady. And in my opinion over 20% BF is way too high. Train hard and look for quality gains in the long run, not 20lbs in a week or two.

diamond, please list your diet.... i dont think its possible to gain 40 pounds in 3 months naturally. in many other posts you say you eat less than 100g of carbs/day... how do you grow that much when your not eating carbs... i smell bullshit :moon:

Your initial weight gain is water. When calories increase so does edema...fact of life. Some people are more prone to retaining water so they will hoard it on the spot...which apears to be your case. Water also comes off quikly and easily once caloies drop, hence you ending up back at 180. You have to bulki past this initial weight increase because it's meaningless...it's water. Don't be discouraged by it. It's your genetics. If you want to bulk you have to have the right mentality. You're not going to be a pretty boy while bulking. You have to dedicate yourself to it and forget about being cut for the time being.

I've been lifting seriously for a year and my trainer is a pro bb'er which probably is the main reason I was able to make such gains

the diet is 2 pounds a day of red meat, 3 boxes of rice a day with a tblspoon butter or 2 boxes rice and 1 or 2 baked potatoes,2-4 high protein bars a day,1 met-rx rtd shake a day, creatine, efa's

I put on about 40 pounds in 6 months naturally. Sure, a lot of it is fluid and fat, but Dorian and Lee Priest are right. You can't be afraid to put on some fat if you want to put on some mass. You can always diet and do cardio to get rid of it.
