Need Advice On Fixing/Building Credit

Wrangler

New member
I have 3 credit cards. One is a Visa I had for about 5 years but havnt used in 3, the others are a master card and amex. The MC I use all the time and pay off most of the balance all the time. The Amex I have a line of credit with but never have used it once...It's Still Shiney.

I am going to pull my credit report. Should I cancel the cars I am not using. I heard having a credit card for a while is good for your credit..So I might not want to get rid of the Visa..But I also Heard that Having Amex is a good crdedit builder too and it looks good to lenders to see that Amex has you as a card holder. I need to drop one of those cards atleast. So Should I drop the Visa which I had the longest?

I also have a lot of mall credit cards Ga,Bannana, etc..Which I am going to close.

Does anybody know of any good ways to build a high credit score. My max debt right now is under 1000 which I usually pay off every month. For a while Ive been making partial payments and carrying a balance for credit purposes but I usually end up paying it off. Should I pay the card off to 0 before pulling the report? I am almost 24 and have a job if that makes a difference. Does jobs show on credit reports? Can having many jobs in a short period of time affect your credit?

Oh yeah, is there any place I can get a full credit report/score for under $40.00 every place wants 40 to check it.

Just pull the report as it is. Cancelling cards is not going to greatly affect your score. If you have been making on time payments over the years, then you are doing excellent. As well as having a few cards but not like 20.

3 cards is perfectly acceptable and still under the national average. It is the credit line on those three cards that really matters. If you have more credit limit than what you make in a year, then that can have an impact on your score.

Having a bunch of mall cards is not real detrimental for that same reason. They are generally low limit and thus, don't weigh heavily on your "debt potential"

That's how I know it anyways.
