just had an intravenous pyelogram (ivp) after microscopic (50-100 units) of blood in urine. the ivp was not helpful to the urologist and now i have a cystoscopy with retrograde pyelogram on monday. question is is this too much x-ray in a short time? i noticed one of the ivp pictures showed my testicles and today my testicles are sore, is this related? any advice on the procedure like risks, ....thanks in advance

Blood in the urine....not good, especially if you are on gear. An IVP looks for kidney stones, hydronephrosis, and other outlines of things that might be wrong with your kidney. The most common cause of microscopic hematuria is kidney stones. Worst case scenario is that you have a renal tumor and it broke through the sheath, causing blood to leak into the filtering section or the ureters of the kidney. But if the urologist said it wasnt showing anything, hopefully you are in the clear.

For the retrograde cystoscopy, ask for alot of sedation and have them lube up your package with lidocaine lube......it will still hurt though....sorry.

You need to be exposed to ALOT of xrays to get too much radiation. You are fine.
