I have no clue what these stupid fans were thinking when they come on the court to start shit with already pissed off NBA players. What's even more amazing is that the cops were threatening to spray Artest with pepper spray when it's clear that the fans were the ones who instigated the whole thing, the fans are the ones who needed to be contained. I have no idea what the cops were thinking, why were they on the court instead of in the stands arresting people?

The cop was going to mace him cuz the player wanted to go BACK into the fray and keep punching. He was ignoring the cops and not going back to the locker room.

Hillarious as it may be -- according to the law -- if someone on the street throws a soda at you -- you CAN'T run up and start beating the crap out of him. You'll be the one getting arrested for assault. Same law applies on the basketball court. From what I saw in the video, the player got up from the bench and went after the fan. Unfortunately the law doesn't have a "he deserved a beating" defense.
