Post up some names from the shredder hall of fame:

I'll start with

Satch
Batio
Buckethead . . .

Give me some more, I'm into this stuff lately!

I like the petrucci and the paul gilbert. Both of those are great. I will have to check out some of the other names y'all mentioned.

those guys aren't really shredders

michael angelo (real cool guy met him many times he has got some good stuff, check out no boundries)

michael romeo (sounds alot like yngwie but a little more al di meola and michael angelo to his playing)

and yngwie :D

I like michael (angelo) batio a lot too :)

Also, digging hideous sun demons, vernon reid.

What about joe stump?

Of course, Yngwie, Satch, and Vai are always classy!

Perkele would be so proud of me . . .

I spent the day listening to Elegant Gypsy by Al DiMeola. Boy that guy IS pretty good. Once you get over that shiny 70s tone, the licks are amazing and as fresh as anything out there.

Also, Satriani Crystal Planet and Vernon Reid Known Unknown rounded out the study set today :)

you have good taste in music Mr. Majutsu

Heard some Uli Jon Roth the other day on XM, and that dude was way ahead of his time. I had always read about him in guitar mags, but just never went out and bought a CD.

Joboj Orange is pretty good. Much more soulful than Michael (angelo) batio, but less technical.

Listening to Marty Friedman's masterpiece again. A great old album.

A guitar machine would be more soulful and less technical than Angelo. :)

Al Di Meola :)

None better...

either in Fusion Jazz or Flamenca, think he's got the fastest fingers and cleanest sound ever.

Still have Land of the Midnight Sun in LP

Paco De Lucia, without distortion. :)

Paco did a duet with Al Di Meola on Al's Elegant Gypsy album. The song was Mediterranean Sundance, I believe. One of the best guitar pieces I have ever heard.
