im getting emails from them saying i have a secret admirer but i have to register & give 5-15 email addresses to find out who.

Out of curiosity, is this a spam trick. Is everyone getting the same email.

It's spam, just register a dupe email at hotmail, and give them 15 fake addies, and find out what their loser line is.

remember when someone by the name of "MyMatchmaker.com" posted a pic of herself saying how hot and rich she was? just checking. haha

there are a few sites that do this.
they spam a list of people, telling them that they have a secret admirer.
in order to guess who it is, you have to put in that person's email address.
you are just spammed so there is no real address, so you arent' going to get a match - meanwhile, they are getting all of the addresses that you feed in.
they then spam those email addresses and it goes all over again.

there is a lot of overlap of emails, but in the end, they can get a large list this way.

whether or not they then sell that list, or ever had a legit site in the first place is questionable - but the first part is right.

I got those from a site called crushlink.com or crushmaster.com. Crush something. I never did find out who. If they have to do it that way, I really don't care.

George probably sold his e-mail list to matchmaker.

but then doesnt that mean that they could have your email addy from a secret admirer who stuck your addy in?
