My friends,

For three years and 8,000 posts, I have enjoyed your company and conversation. We have laughed together, debated together, learned together, and watched EF drama unfold together.

It pains me greatly to learn that I have now been forced to participate in such EF drama.

A perceptive number of you have already found it odd and suspicious that I would “retire” from my Moderator position without so much as a saying a word. Your suspicions are justified.

I have not retired as a Moderator.

I learned of my ascension to the “prestigious” rank of Elite Mentor from George Spellwin’s “appreciation” thread; in fact, I learned of this on the Chat Board before I learned of it via e-mail from George. My e-mail request for an explanation and justification has not yet been answered, and I suspect it never will be.

This neither concerns nor angers me. I was given the position of Moderator some time ago for my participation in the highly trafficked debate threads on the Chat Board. I was not paid to hold this position, nor do I have any responsibility over EF of any kind. I do not believe that I am “entitled” to this position in any way, nor do I believe that it was “stolen” from me.

I would have gladly resigned from the position if it were asked of me, but alas, it was not.

While browsing the boards yesterday, I found myself slowing losing Moderator abilities. First, my ability to view the Moderator Board. Second, my ability to move or edit threads. Third, my Platinum Quick Reply option, and, finally, my title of “Moderator.” I did not learn of what had happened until I read George’s retirement thread, and the only notification I got from him was a copy & paste e-mail sent after the deed was done. How do I know it was a copy & paste? He used the exact same paragraphs in reply to PursuitOfShredded’s post here:

I am not angry because I am no longer a Moderator. I am angry because I’ve been insulted.

As Moderator, it was my duty to serve the members of the EliteFitness Chat Board to act as a liaison between members and the administration in order to ensure that your rights and concerns were being voiced and addressed.

I was “retired” as Moderator for doing just that.

I expressed disapproval with EF’s recent banning policy on the Moderator’s Board and suggested an alternative that would be beneficial to both guests, regular members, Platinum members, Moderators, Administrators, banned members, and even the members who wanted banned members banned. I also suggested modifications to the TOS so that the document could exist in such a way that every single member on EF would not be banned if the TOS were strictly enforced. I have always attempted to keep my criticism of policy and implementation private, and, more importantly, constructive. In “sincere appreciation” of this, I was “retired.”

To add more insult to insult, my “prestigious” rank of “Elite Mentor” has rendered me a normal user. I have access to no Platinum features, and I must view numerous advertisements on the boards.

It makes me sick to my stomach to know that I am generating revenue for the company that perpetrated this farce of a “retirement,” and even sicker to my stomach to know that the same company is likely making a profit off of advertising and Platinum memberships as opposed to “operating in the red” because of the EF message boards.

As a Moderator, my comments in private expressing disapproval of anything administrative resulted in my loss of the Moderator position. As the regular user that I am now, I suspect that my public comments will result in the loss of my posting privileges.

Of course, I’ve always said that private businesses have the right to do whatever they wish as long as they do not violate the law, and I do not believe there is a law against banning somebody who expresses a contrary opinion – though I do find it absolutely deplorable.

That being said, I wish to congratulate those of you who have read this far and managed to access this post before somebody moved or deleted it. If any of my formerly-fellow Moderators are reading this, I hope that you will have some respect for me, and for yourselves (remember, this could happen to you), and leave this post intact. Let the administration silence me.

I do not know if I will continue posting here. I suppose that all depends on whether or not the remaining moderators and the administration will respect my “retirement” speech and allow me to remain a member. I also suppose that will depend on whether or not the regular EF members feel that EF, or at least, the Chat Board, will be a better place with my presence than without.

If my decision turns out to be a “no,” then I would at least like to say this:

To my friends, thank you for the laughter and support. To my acquaintances, thank you for the conversation and attention. To the rest of you, whether I knew you or not, and whether I liked you or not, it wouldn’t have been the same without you.

I will not name names, as I could spend a day reading through the EF member roster to find people that have made my stay here pleasant and I would still not get them all.

If you know who I am, then I know who you are, and I thank you for the past three years.

Keep in touch,

-Warik

always a pleasure.

saved in case someone does decide to move, delete or edit what u said.

Very well written and nicely put. Warik, I hope you do decide to continue on at Elite, if allowed. I have always enjoyed reading your posts, even if I didn't always agree with them. It's a rarity to see an intelligent post sometimes at Elite, but you always managed to supply one.

And btw, thank you to whoever decided to move this back so that all could read it. I don't even mind that my thread was deleted, if it at least made a little impact on getting this where it belongs.

Dude that really sucks, bunch of bastards

Good luck getting an e-mail from "George"

I sent an e-mail to George cancelling mah platinum, I doubt I will hear from him anytimes soon as well.
