My Left Side is Stronger

necia

New member
I've noticed that when I do exercises such as Lateral raises or even Bicep Curls that the body part on the right side of my body tires more quickly than the body part on the left side. I've noticed this with weight training, and even balance type exercises. I've also noticed that I can physically see changes on my right side of the body. For example, I can see my bicep on my right arm, and on my left I can see fat, hahahahahahhahaha. What are my options to catch my right side up to my left side? I don't want to be one of those people walking around looking uneven! Is there any hope for me?

But i do use dumb bells. Should I use a higher weight on my left side, or do more reps on my right? I'm really confused.

You're right handed I bet. Generally the hand you do all your "fine work" with (e.g. writing, etc.) is the one that is able to do that detailed manipulation while the other side is your stabilizer. Therefore your left is going to be your stronger side but not as well suited for precise work. Just work them evenly. As you continue with your training you will get more conditioned to doing balanced work. If you continue to let one be stronger than the other, how are you going to manage a barbell without droppign one side??

I was always told NOT to do this. Stay even and it will balance out....

right?

Noted. Thanks Sassy. And, I truly wonder how the hell I"m gonna manage to hold up a barbell. Lmao. I'm gonna stick to my db workout so that I can further condition myself.

My left foot is 1/2 inch bigger than my right & my left bicep is 1/2" bigger than the right.

Cosmic huh?

I really think thats the minority...

Im right dominant....all my measurements are larger on my right side.

I think that most(75%) are stronger on the dominant side

I can only recall one person that I have trained that was "weak" dominant and she was ambidext.

I posted about this a while back, as well. I'm right handed. My right arm is stronger, but my left arm is bigger/more defined.

thats bizarre.....

I wonder if its a female thing??

Ive seen numerous articles by fols like Arnold, Lou, yeates ect thathas as much as a .75 difference in arm measurement - smaller on non-dominant side.

Well my right side definitly gets tired, more fatigued than the left side faster. My right arm shakes on my db curl sooner than the left arm. Yet my right arm is more defined. I assumed my right side is weaker. Even balance exercises, I can hold my balance on the left. The right I"m flying all over the place, yet I'm more defined on my right side. My left foot is bigger than my right foot.

LMAO! Well I guess I stand corrected. It makes sense to me and the issue has been brought up before. I gots no scientific study behind me. I guess all we know is that Shadow hangs to the right.

Look at my log... I'm right handed and my bicep on the right side has always been about a half an inch larger then my left. The definition is also more pronounced on my right side....

I had the same problme w/my quads- right side bigger than left. what i did was train both @ the same weight, but force the weaker side to do more reps than the stronger side. This only helps if you have pretty decent muscle base & alot of training experience or you end up overtraining the weaker side.

I actually thought this was the case with me, but after talking with my co-worker I realized it was the other way around. My right side definitly fatigues quicker than the left.

Gee thanks Shadow. Lmao, I guess I'm officially part of the EF family, being called out like that. However, I've been called worst, so a freak I be.

Hey Necia. I had the EXACT same problem with my calves(as well as my biceps) but more so my calves. I got some advice from a guy that worked for me pretty well. He said when training to start your set with your weak side and do as many reps as you can*or are trying for* and only do that many on your strong side. It makes sense I guess...worked on my calves. Just thought I would share.
