My horror story....abcess, infection, surgery (from injection)

Hey Bros,
Just wanted to let you guys know, I have been on this board for a long time although I dont post much.
I recently was in the middle of a long cycle about 26 weeks or so doing about 2g's a week of assorted AS. I got a lump on my glute, and I figured that was normal, sometimes it happens, only this one didnt go away.
I got an infection (In September) that was very hard to detect, I went and had outpatient surgery twice to drain it (In October/November), developed 4 pockets, it kept coming back until an Infectous Disease doc diagnosed it (a month later). I went to see a surgeon the next day and finally surgery the following day. Turns out it is a bacterial infection, one that is very hard to find if you dont know what you are looking for, and they had to cut 3 holes 4 1/2 inches deep and 3 inches wide and dig tunnels through my glute. It has been almost 5 weeks and I am starting to heal. It must heal from the inside out however. So every morning a nurse comes over and re-packs the holes with gauze. Doesnt nessecarily tickle I should add.
The reason for the post?
I want to let you bros know that I attribute the infection to unsterile needle or unsterile AS. You gotta do your homework and make sure its clean. I was using homebrew Fina, which may have contributed although I added QV Prop also around this time which is can sting by nature. Also, the big mistake, because I was drawing everyday out of 3 vials I used the same needle to draw it all out and I would unscrew the needle and put on a fresh one for the injection. I either I did not sanitize the needle that was going in and out of vials, or I accidently injected with the wrong pin, I have been using this method for years without a problem. But of course I have learned a lesson.
I have at least another month of recovery, I lost over 30 pounds (all muscle). I am looking forward to a nice GH cycle when over.
I hope this can help one of you out there, I am not going to bash AS because it was my carelessness. But if you have a lump, and you think you may have done something wrong, if it lasts more than a week, see a doctor! And dont waste your time, go right for a Infectous Disease doc. They know their stuff and have seen this many times.
I hope this helps someone.

God Bless,

CL

WOW! Thanks for the post...as you said hopefully it will help someone out. Sorry to hear about your infection. Wishing you a speedy and healthy recovery.

Damn bro. What would Jesus do???? He'd listen to BC-just like you did in your original post on Sept 21st. Here's my reply to your thread's inquiry about a lump in your ass back then. I copy/pasted it here cuz I figure others in a similar situation may benefit from reading it it. I'm just glad you didn't put it off any longer than you did.

Dude, if you're not comfortable telling your family Dr., just go to one of those urgent care places somewhere on the other side of town so you don't have to worry about seeing anyone there that knows you personally. Call beforehand and let them know what's up-be honest, if they start preaching(I doubt they will), try calling another place that seems more accomodating. I was hesitant to tell the Dr. the truth when I had my abcess in my tricep, so I told him it was from a cactus needle. He knew I was full of shit, so I came clean w/ him (when nobody else was around). I expresssed my concern to him about not wanting to be honest with him initially because I didn't feel like hearing a lecture. Plus I told himthat roid use is a felony, and I wasn't aware of his policies in regards to such things. He was totally cool about it. I didn't get a lecture and told me that he had no desire to get me in any trouble with the law.

Anyway, I lanced mine myself and it came back even worse less than 12 hrs later. I guess oral antibiotics won't work because the white blood cells form a wall around the abcess that makes it tough to penetrate without an using an injectable antibiotic first to give the infection a good kick in the ass(no pun intended). Along with taking the oral antibiotics a couple weeks(I think it was Cephlexin?)I had to drain it on my own in the shower twice daily for about a week afterwards.

Take care of this now so you don't get a potentially lethal staph infection and end up in the hospital for awhile. Try explaining that one to all your family and friends-plus the hospital bill could easily exceed $10K and if you don't die you'll lose a shitload of weight/strength at the very least.

Also, could you be a sport and tell everyone what the grand total of all of your medical bills were??? I'm guessing it's a frikkin' whopper??? If you had insurance, how much was covered??? Telling us this may really help so peeps won't be such cheap asses and reusing the same dart over and over???

Get well soon. That which does not kill you...

Great Post bro, and yes I remember it well, I think that was the one that really got me to taking it seriously. That is Eliteboard at its BEST!! One bro helping another.
Fortunately, I have insurance.
It still cost me over $1500 in copays for RX, 3 surgeries, ongoing visits (once a week to the surgeon, and once a week to the Infectous Disease doctor)
I have a nurse that comes to house once a day, used to be twice. There is no way you can do it yourself and she is $70 a pop.
So all told out of pocket has to be at least 4-5k. The insurance has paid at least 15k.

Be clean brothers, take it seriously.

God Bless,

CL
