my first bodyguard gig

18echo

New member
so yesterday i got my first gig as an 'executive protection specialist' in metro d.c.. or, as i like to call them- a bullet sponge. although my part was actually partnered with another guy as 'counter surveillance'. watching the crowd, just a few yards off the 'package', or the guy we were protecting.

:shoot: :destroy:

i'm supposed to 'blend in', right. well, at 6'4' and 235, i don't figure i'll be able to do this. it turns out most all of the 250+ people had no idea that we were even around. i guess i did it right.

the guy was a ceo of an i.t. company holding a summit for the DoD. computer graphics and whatnot. this fucking company can take an overhead photo taken from a sattelite and make it a 3-d virtual model of the area, with all measurements scaled to proportion. it was fuckin' amazing. then they can place a red dot anywhere on the simulation (like on the corner of a rooftop) and the program will show you exactly what a sniper would see. unreal! all from a flat photo.

just thought i'd share.

farragut?

i've never even heard of farragut. what the hell is that?

you'd figure the gov't would be using shit like that to find bin laden. i guess not just yet.

and iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
will aways love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu............

this gig was in crystal city.

Secret Service or Presidential Guard in the Army is the way to go.

18,
Are you skilled in hand to hand combat in any way?

yes and no

i am knowledgeable in h2h, but do not hold a black belt or any shit like that. used to have time to practice chinese (wushu and traditional kung fu) for fitness purposes.

the techniques i practice are down and dirty. there are only a few that i need to keep up on and keep quick. maybe 3 ot four techniques that preety much cover anything i could find myself involved in. most martial arts, albeit impressive as a show of physical prowess, are crap in a real world situation. and if you're doing your job correctly as a protective agent, you're not gonna be concerned with straight up scrapping anyway. you keep the package out of danger. period.

Ain't that the truth!:D

"bullet spoonge" ... he he...

How much for services...Need protection from someone beast? LOL!!!

depending on what the services entail, fees range (as a team) between 300 and 750 per day per man. the low end would just be straight exec protection, and the high end would include advanced surveillance and submitted reports and whatnot. all the pre-trip checks. it also depends on where the job is in the world. there's also expenses to be covered.

having said that, it actually depends on alot of shit as to what the price is.

If you dont' mind me asking how did you get that job? I mean prior experience in the military or police......
What kind of tactical weapons are you carrying too?

Sounds like a good job till you get shot at. No offense.

5 Star General, MARINES provide security at the white house. Army, the old guard, works at the tomb of the unknown soldier and Arlington.

hey 18, how does one get started in a job like that? I always wanted to do something like that

to lord suston and p0ink

sorry about the delayed reply, fellas. i was in maryland squaring away some military paperwork. it looks like i may be goin to rag land in january.

getting into that sort of job is ALOT of who you know. alot of times you may seem very qualified, and the employer may like you, but they need to present their staff to potential clients as being the best, with the best experience. when the e.p. companies are dealing with such high dollar clients, they will usually not bullshit on your behalf too much- no matter how they like you.

it took me a few years of picking up credentials and networking to make the contact i finally work for. and the funniest part is, e.p. work isn't where i want to end up any more. i'm holding out for another contact that i've been grooming for 3 YEARS, while going through special forces training and after, to get me into his line of work, which has little to do with actual e.p. and is actually a bit more risky.

you know how, if you meet someone who wants you to get them a job, you need to, basically, judge them yourself before you're willing to put your own stamp of approval on them and refer them to someone else. well, i was just introduced over beers  to e few business associates of my 3 year contact, which i was very excited about after the fact, because these are the type of guys that you'll never meet unless someone introduces you. essentially, he was giving his partners the thumbs up on me. so now i'm just awaiting the next step.

sounds hokey, but it's at this point that i'm going to remain vague in reference to that job for now. in the meantime, though, the guy that i do e.p. work for is also a frequent business associate of the 3 year contact. so i got put to work here until things get organized in the other direction.

p0ink- do you have any sort of applicable experience? just curious. not saying that there is anything i could do about it. although there are some e.p. companies that are mainstream, but well-known that i could refer you to.
