My carb count....

A typical weekday (day 1-6 in the CKD cycle) is as follows:

Meal 1: 2-4 whole eggs (depending on the day) scrambled in canola margarine to meet the fat quota

Meal 2, 3 and 4: Musashi 92% protein*, canola oil, 2-3g Splenda, about 10g pure psyillium husks (the amount of protein powder/canola oil depends on the day and the fat:protein ratios, obviously)

Meal 5: Same as Meal 1.

*Musashi 92% protein is about 2% carbs, Splenda is about 92% carbs.... and I think eggs have about 1g carbs each, give or take.

So.... by my calculations, on the HIGHEST carb day:

Protein powder: 2.25g carbs
Splenda: 8.25g carbs
Eggs: 10g carbs

Total: 20.5g carbs

That's over-compensating a little bit. Do you think that's okay? If not, I guess I could cut out the Splenda....

20-30g carbs daily is fine, just make sure you don't eat all of them in one meal;otherwise, you'll be kicked out of ketosis.

Quick question, Mr. X....

.... you say that eating too much protein can keep you out of ketosis. But can a whole lot of protein KICK you out of ketosis when you're already in it?

Say one day I wanna eat like, 6 chickens or something. Would that take me out of ketosis? I feel like having a binge day once in a while but still keeping the carbs down.

Its because when the body is starved for carbs.. aka in ketosis, the body can convert something like up to 50% of the protein to glycogen. On another note, mr. x. ... is it bad to eat ~ 0 carbs on ckd? or is this the aim... i didnt know if maybe 10 carbs or so are necessary for life function

yes, it can still kick you out after you're in

not sure if it would or would not, but I would assume it would due to the high protein content, that is assuming you didn't eat the skin and didn't eat the external fats.
On a side note, if you want to have a binge, just do it during your carb-ups.

I try to get as close to 0 as possible. Any way you look at it, 0-30 carbs is just not sufficient for your overall functions. The brain, alone, needs 100g glucose, so you can see the far fetched call in the glucose department. That's why I try to get into Ketosis ASAP, so I can have the body get used to it and start using Ketones as the source of energy asap.
