We just got an order from an American soldier stationed in Iraq.. here's the email conversation:
-----------------
"Louis.
It’s your lucky day!
We’re Canadian and all of us (six) here support the USA and especially you brave folks over there making the world a better place. You should be proud and I have heard from enough Iraqis to know of the remarkable changes you’ve brought about. We’ve tried to support you all anyway we can and today this means no charge on your order. I will credit back the your total order amount today.
Please tell us more of your unit and where you’re stationed and I’ll pass it on the others who work here. Anything you or your buddies need just let me know.
Thanks for serving both your great nation and all freedom loving people everywhere.
Stay safe.

And this is his (the soldier's) reply:

"***,
I can't thank you guys enough! I'm too stoked right now. I appreciate all the support you guys are giving us. Life here is rough and the threat level is always high and the heat is enough to knock you off your feet. With all the mortar rounds that come in every other night, it's amazing we still get our sleep. Me and a group of guys are getting our band together out here to put shows on for the other soldiers on this camp and hopefully other camps in the future. We don't get much for entertainment so we decided to take it upon ourselves. I'm part of the 1st Infantry Division's Support Command (DISCOM). My job is to maintain the 1st Infantry Division's network, computer, radio, and telephone systems in theater. We're up in the middle to northern part of Iraq. I'll be sure to pass plenty of praise of your company on to the other guys that are guitar players around here (although not to many guitarists appreciate the value of tubes). I always try to convert 'em over to tubes though and I'll be sure to put you guys in. You guys had the right tubes at the lowest prices. The address to where you can reach me and the other guys would be my shipment address in the order. It'll come directly to me. If you guys wanna send anything, please feel free to. Packages are what makes a soldier's day out here. I appreciate all that you guys have done for me and the support that you give me and the rest of the soldiers out here is what keeps us going.
Once again, thanks so much,
Louis"

Anyway I thought that was pretty cool.
We're putting together another package to send.. anyone have any tips? We usually do granola bars, nutrigrain, candies, magazines... what else would be good to send, that won't melt or go bad?
