What is that real powerful, almost opera music called that are in movies, like it fight seens (lord of the rings song 7. A Knife In The Dark. for example) the music they play in real tense parts in movies, with chanting and all that good stuff to get you pumped..is there a name for this? is it chamber music?. i have always just made my own cd's from songs off different soundtracks, but i would like to know the name of this type of music, or composers.

i love working out to that stuff.

That would almost certainly be Richard Wagner, or works influenced by him. You would be better off buying some sort of compilation of his works rather than a full opera. Those are hours long, and most of the material would probably bore you, besides the dramatic stuff you like.

I know they used one of his pieces in "Excalibur." I don't know the exact name of it, but it is widely used. So just do a search for "wagner excalibur" in any p2p program you use. Also try "Duel of the Fates" from the Star Wars Episode 1 soundtrack.

I don't really know much else about this. I'm much more a fan of classical opera.
