Muscles keep twitching...WTF???

It seems like if I dont work out a certain muscle group every 3 or 4 days they start twitching like crazy. What the hell causes this? Are they telling me that they want to be worked out more? Does this happen to any of yall?

sounds like theyr overworked personally, u should probably wait at least 7 days before working out the same muscle group.

weird. i know that sometimes my injection sites will start jumping. it freaks me out like i think i hit a nerve or something but never heard of that. if it continues and it bothers you... go see your doc.

I dont think it is from over working b/c me and my work out partner just started doing each muscle group twice a week and it is definalty showing a difference. Right now sitting here typing my biceps and back are freakin out twitching like crazy, but when I flex it stops. Any one know why this happens?

How would calcium have anything to do with my muscles twitching? Somebody has got to know why this is happening.

It also could be lack of IRON. I used to have a muscle twitch in my shoulder and also my eyebrow. I took an Iron pill everyday and I was fine.

I am not really supplementing religously right now. I have protien powder and L-Glutamine and take them when I am not lazy to throw the in the mixer which is once eod. No multi's.

i would suggest just getting some multi-vitamins, with iron and without, sometimes iron can give you an upset stomach, but not that often.

Try to take your glutamine too...that always helps....throw in some taurine as well........just my $.02

:die:

Minerals like calcium, zinc, and copper help to regulate neuromuscular physiology. When ther is an imbalance in your system sometimes nerves can fire improperly without control stimulus. This could also be a result of the recent increase in your workout regimin as new strain is causing your muscles to adapt to new innervation. One of my friends had the same problem and had to go to the hospital (for stomach flu not twitching) and his calcium and zinc levels were almost non-existant.

This ALWAYS happens to me. Even when I am not on and I take a week off, by the end of the week my body twitches like you see on those infomercials where they use the electronics to help "sculpt" your abs. I thought that this would be a common thing, but I guess not. Should I go see my doctor about this?

Growin" has probably hit the nail on the head. Muscle tetany is what you are experiencing. Calcium, contrary to most people's understanding is the most important mineral in muscle contraction and relaxation. Yes, Na and K are important but there would be more of a seizure type of reponse if that were the case.

If it is negatively effecting your everyday life or you are seriously concerned about it then go get it checked out. Better safe than.... Good rule to follow besides if you get blood work done then you can have an exact idea of what you are or aren't getting enough of. Besides this may be your body trying to tell you something and maybe a MD can help you figue out what that message is.

For me bro it was more H2O related. I find it hard from time to time to keep my water intake up & on the days I'm slippin my muscles(Quads) twitch like HELL!!

SBD

ive had that for awhile, its nothing IMO. My routine is bang on, i like it when my shoulders, biceps and quads twitch. I dont think its nothing to worry about.

Ok...I am going to up my H2O intake and start a multi. Anybody else have any suggestions or know exactly what is happening?

Muscle spasms are one of the signs of overtraining. However, the muscle spasms I experience are usually eye twitches, etc. Another possibility is a potassium deficiency. A multi vitamin does not have enough potassium in it for an active individual who trains everyday....

If overtraining causes this then why does it also happen when I haven't worked out for a week or two?

Recently I have had some problems with this, but I have been eating a lot of bananas, taking a multi-mineral, plus eating a diversity of foods. I wonder if heavy training is starting to wear down my system? I wonder if I have imbalances somewhere? This has been occurring in my left arm where the tricep meets the elbow.
