hmmm, could be what underlies the popular curse, "Eat shit and die."

But...yeah. This fina shit is making me hungrier than I have ever been in my life. Last night I had a meal of oxtail ravioli, pork tenderloin and chocolate bruschetta. Then I woke up at 3 a.m. in such hunger I ran to the kitchen and shoved tortilla chips, pickled okra and a protein shake in my mouth. (Maybe I'm pregnant with Anal's child?) I looked at the floor and my cats were staring at me with utter and complete contempt. IN that moment, I really did hate myself.

LOL about the Fina - does that to lots of people - EQ as well.

Thanks for the reply - just curious as Stanley is ALWAYS eating something in the play and it seems to have a hatred/devouring aspect to it...

That's cause Stanley is suppose to be a fat ass. And you are fucking up this role with this diet you are on. No Oscar for you buddy boy.

But excessive eating is a sign of depression.

EQ has never had as powerful an effect on me.

I can't really recall Stanley's eating that much in Streetcar. Williams was interested in psychoanalysis and he may have meant to indicate Stanley's oral fixation, which would point to his mother complex, which he certainly suffers. Is this in the play or was it something Brando added in his interpretation? (BEsides turning out to be a lardass, Brando was, as you know a product of the psychoanalytically inspired Method.)

Eating is also a common means of repressing rage. Scratch a jolly fat person and you find a tyrant.

I think Corn is fishing for sympathy for not being able to drop those last 22 poinds.:D

...there is a significant amount in the play...but ELi Kazan added a little more to the movie version and it worked well on a couple of levels:

1 - Cementing Blanche's assertion that he is an ape

2 - He is eating/drinking just b-4 the rape scene as well.

Supressing rage I guess what I meant be the hatred thing....

Brando was the shit in that movie though......

Not a bad thread. Only three heteros posted on it. Georgia, Casavant and Wodin.

Well.....it was my thought to let the audience infer what they might.

In the movie they struggle, he picks he up...the rest is implied.

My idea:

They struggle, he picks her up.....she goes limp like she has fainted. I carry her to the bed, place one knee between her legs(on the bed) and strip of my shirt and let it fall to the floor and draw a sharp intake if breath.......see Blanch hasn't been moving and the audience thinks that Stan is going to rape her while unconscious.....after my breath, (Blanches left arm was placed palm down pon the bed) there is no movement except for Blanche's left hand whcih draws the bedcovers just so slightly form the audience side of the bed...

did you want to rehearse it with him?

LOL. No, I would just be a little squeamish about having to do that if I were him. Not because I think it's morally wrong to portray as an actor, but just because...well...it's a rape scene.

Blanch and I have known each other for years and are very good friends......so that makes a huge difference

Brando was the shit in that movie though...... [/B][/QUOTE]he was the man-n-n-n-n!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool beans. The way you described it doesn't sound so bad.

Brando in his current state is not indicative of the physical-type actor he was.....yeah - it would be stressful doing that with a complete stranger cuz I mangle her pretty good leading up to that scene.
