Muscle Milk???

Well I need some feedback....
I always drink a protein shake of some sort when I get home from doing an hour of weights (usually two scoops, water, and ice) just to tide me over an hour or so before I can eat a real meal...
Muscle Milk is on sale this week though but I have heard mix reviews on the stuff?!!?!? Some people say it works, some say if your a girl you gain weight because the creatine, and then I have read that it has your "healthy" fats in it too? So I was just kind of looking for some opinions before I give the stuff a try? Otherwise I will stick with my whey :)

I have used it and loved it taste aweomse. It really depends on what your goals are though when cutting I use only one scope of MM and one scope of ON.

Sure it "works'- its food. Sorta. If you are looking to cut bodyfat, not your best choice. Sure it tastes good but its got extra fat & carbs that you dont need if you get a different brand of whey protein.

Muscle Milk is a good protein, but not a good choice before or after you train. Due to the good fats and the blend of protein in it, it doesn't digest fast enough. I don't know if you are taking in carbs after you train too....some people don't like to and that is fine as long as you have enough protein with high BCAA's. Even if you do take carbs with your MM, like I said it takes too long to digest....your body needs something NOW!

I usually take a pure whey isolate (iso-agb) before and after I train. I don't care about dieting so adding carbs doesn't bother me, but isolate digests quick so it does promote better recovery. Ulter or Mac would know the aprox time it takes to digest, but I think it's something like 45min...which is ideal.

MM is great in the morning and before bed. It is more akin to a MRP than just a Protein due to the time it takes to digest.

Thanks ya'll! Appreciate the advice... and i think I will stick with what ya told me Sassy bout mixin some protein in with gatorade for a quick recovery :) I know I need something that absorbs quick otherwise I feel bogged down for the hour or two til my meal! Plus tryin to cut a bit so I suppose Muscle Milk is not for me.

Hehehe good rule of thumb ... thats why i recently had to give the ole peanut butter a toss too..... talk about an addiction :p

I think that you shouldn't try something just because it is on sale.

Try buying 2 and see how your body responds. If you like the effect then go ahead, but if not, then you'll know what to do.

Whey's absorption time is a huge myth. Whey isolate is on the order of 80 minutes. The only whey that actually digests in around 40 minutes is whey hydrosylate - which is never present in any significant quantities due to its extremely bitter taste. All the whey's ride the "40 minute absorption" wave that hydrosylate is capable of.
