MRP vs. making your own

witkowsd

New member
WHich is better - buying a MRP (I am using Myoplex) or making your own with protein powder, egg whites, etc.

I make my own, not because it's cheaper (which it is) but because, in my case anyway, they are better. I use a blend of egg white powder, calcium casinate powder and flax cereal that I grind into a powder.
50 grams of protein, 86 grams of carbs and 9 grams of fat per serving.
I drink 4 of 'em a day.

Unless you require 100% convenience, which means a ready to drink canned drink, making your own is the way to go. I use milk protein isolate for my protein source, a good multi with extra anti oxidants and old fashioned oatmeal as my carb source. It's cheaper, healthier, and I have 100% control over the contents unlike a pre-packaged MRP. I'll just make my protein with extra water and add part of it to uncooked oatmeal, let it sit a few minutes and eat it like cold cereal.
