Mr. X curious about your opinion.

First let me start off by saying you are an invaluable asset to this board. I've been reading your posts on this board for awhile and have learned a lot thanks.

On to my question. I recently read about a diet called the "warrior diet" in which you basically starve yourself all day and then at night after your workout eat one large meal. Supposedly this enhances protein synthesis and insulin sensitivity thereby allowing one to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. The author says that during the day you are in a ketogenic state burning fat and at night after your meal you switch on insulin and anabolism to promote muscle building.

Seems interesting, just wondering what your thoughts if any on this eating plan were and if you had any experience with it?
Thanks.

First, let me say thanks for the positive comments. Now, let's move on to the topic at hand.

The "warrior diet" is the WORST diet I have ever come up on, I think the only other diet that is that idiotic is the ABCDE, which is another scam.
1)you will NOT be in ketosis, you will be in starvation mode when you don't eat anything
2)your so called post-workoug LARGE meal will NOT refill msucle glycogen, that's the last thing the body is worried about; most of the glucose will be anabolic, but mostly in FAT tissues. Meaning, you will GAIN FAT! The body needs homeostasis; therefore, after such a strong starvation, any food that shall come into the body will be, at least partially, stored as fat.

I took this directly from the guy who wrote the diet:
***********quotes from T************
T: Okay, Ori. Lay it on me. What's your "Warrior Diet" all about?

OH: This is more of an opinion or a concept rather than completely scientific research, but it's based on opinions....

=>interesting, how can this guy recommend a diet that he hasn't even tried himself

T: Can you then give some examples of modern warriors?

OH: There are no modern warriors. That's the problem. I think that even the Army, as far as I know it, is a short-lived kind of atmosphere for warriors with the assumption that, if you want to train people to be warriors, you have to give them war, or a feeling of war. So basic training is about abusing the body, making it hard, getting you to go through a time of starvation, deprivation of sleep, shooting above your head, and making sure that you really are ready to encounter real war itself.

=>what an idiotic statement to starve someone to near death and then deprive them of sleep: I'D LIKE TO SEE THIS GUY FOLLOW HIS OWN DIET!

T: So you can eat a little during the day?

OH: Absolutely. You can eat whatever you want, as long as you don't eat any carbohydrates that will drive up insulin.

=>I guess our friend here doesn't know that 50% of protein can convert to glucose, this guy is a TOTAL JOKE!

two to four grams of glutamine on an empty stomach can boost your GH in one hour by 30-50%.

=>this guy is totally out there, wonderful MYTHS of bodybuilding are pointed out here....this article would be good as a list of things NOT TO DO!

Conclusion, the diet is worthless, don't waste your diet. In addition, the author seems to be some Joe from nowhere, saying outrageous facts w/o scientific proof.
