mixing finaplix?

Help me out here guys...I hope someone out there knows what I dont! Here is my problem
I bought the finaplix pellets....one of my friends mixed it for me. He ground up the pellets and used a coffee filter to filter it. But people have been telling me now that its better to do it with a real kit cause using a coffee filter you loose a lot of the potency. Is this true?...and if I lost some of the good stuff how much.? and...what else do I NOT know that may be bad about not using an actual kit? I know that with the kit..nothing goes unused. Help !!!

What exact steps did your friend follow? And what chemicals and oils, if any did he use? Was it sterile filtered?

If he didn't have a kit, what did he do??
