Is there anything you would change in your last week's prep methodology for competition? E.g. diff carb up scheme? Diff water consumptions? Anything?

you know....I was thinking of doing a hosrt Q and A eith you two guys on a fresh thread if y'all are interested.

Questions along this same line.

Y'all up for it?

I think that would be a great idea....

I think I would have went for a drier carb (to stuck up more water). The morning of I still had some water under the skin, lol the reason why I was running into stores screaming "do have sell salty pistachios". But those babies did the trick. ;)

I know alot of girls say that they look good the day after but for me, I looked my best the day of.

I am :) If my contest experience can help someone else then I'm all for it. I know there's a few ladies getting ready to make the same journey.

I'm up for it as well. I haven't really discussed further w/ my trainer about things we would do differently, but all in all, I'm really pleased. I would like to experiment a little more with different carb ups -- we did a brief experiment w/ carbing - 1 day w/ cream of rice, one day w/ yams, one day w/ white potatos. And we chose the white potatos as the carb of choice. At this point I'm actually scared to go to oatmeal because I don't want to bloat. THat's why I even chose to do the cream of rice instead of cream of wheat (estrogenic) or oatmeal.

I also want to review the salt thing. I was pounding salt w/ my potatos on Friday, but I coudlnt' tell you if it made a difference or not.

But yes, I definitely want to continue the experiment on this! I think it illustrates not only how each thing affects you, but how each thing affects each person individually. So we may not arrive at "graven in stone" conclusions that become part of the "how to do a competition" but rather some guidelines for others to experiment with pre-comp to determine what is optimal for their own bodies.

Yeah! I'll definitely be looking for this info because I'm almost 6 wks out from my first figure comp. It will be interesting to see what you guys did and what you'd do differently.

Hey, did I miss the thread where you guys talked more about final week preparation, or did that thread ever happen? I'm 12 days out from my comp now, and I've been trying to nail down my final week stuff. I know that Miss24K just finished her second comp and Sassy is now training for figure, so I'm curious as to what additional insight you guys may have on this.

Actually it was never posted because they are so many ways to "get ready" and everyone is different. Personally I didn't post mine because, I don't want someone to follow what I did, and it not work for them.

I just think it was the responible thing for me to do.

If you have any questions, please don't hestiate to ask :)

Same here -- because I changed goals a few times and the days when I was plannign to do this or that experimentation, the trainer wasn't around & things just didnt' get recorded correctly. I can't really saw specifically what worked & what didn't. Hoping to do better this time around. Also my experience in BB is not goign to successfully apply to figure because a big part of it is drying out & filling out the muscles and it just is a different goal than figure.

Yup also I did things differently both times around, I'm still going to play with it alittle.

1st time was ok

2nd time I looked much better in my opinion but Friday I didn't feel so good, I was hurting bad, that's why I was so surprised the pics cae out the way they did, you can't tell that I was feeling like death. haha

Miss24K!! That is interesting with the salty pistachios!!

1. So eat salty pistachios if all the water has dried up the day of the show??? :p

2. What do you mean by drier carbs?? Like Yams rather than oatmeal?? fill me in!!! ;)

hehe well that worked for me the 1st time, because I had reduced sodium for like 2 weeks before and it soaked the water up that was left. Not sure how that would work for others cause ost of the girls alost had heart attacks when they saw e seeing sodium before going on stage. lol

Personally I wouldn't carb load on oateal, why because it's ade with water, so you're putting some extra water in you, while your trying to get rid of it, i would stick with yams or regular potatoes.

What if I eat the oatmeal dry?? I have heard of people doing that.. do you think that would help???

Thx

Oatmeal requires water when you make it -- first that screws up your water intake if you are at the poitn where you are tracking all the water. It also puts more water into your stomach, and I find I tend to bloat on it.

I'd stick w/ the potatos.
