Mining on other planets.

When do you think it will become the norm? That is if/ when we have the tools to do it fast, safely and efficiently.

Also, how do you think this can change the economy? Precious stones, oils, and building materials being found on other planets, a good thing or bad for Earth? Would we be doing better by going forward w/ this venture or would we be risking things as far fetched as contamination from unknown parisites, and or species that could possibly hurt us more. Regardless of of technology, we could nver be "too prepared" for the worst.

Thoughts?...

Thanks,

BT

hmmm...maybe mars is full of diamonds, and i'll be able to get that iced out full grillpiece on my teefs i've been dreaming about, for cheap

The goods would have to be in high demand to make money
on it due to the higher costs regardless of technology..

But hey, it we use up all there is here on earth, what does the price matter ?

Won't be cost efficient till well past the next century.
Remember, objects have to achieve escape velocity to leave the planet.
Mining tools= really fucking heavy= more propulsion and/or more launches = more money.

This stuff just pops in your head? Cool :D
