where is microsoft word? is MS word a sub-program for microsoft office or a free, individual program given out freely by microsoft. if it a free download or do i need to buy a copy.

you can use wordpad which is built into windows (under the accessories menu in the start menu) if you need basic stuff.
if you need more complicated stuff, then word comes both by itself and also in office as a sub component.

you can get it "free" from a sharing program, or just use wordpad if you need a basic decent editor.

I'm using wordpad right now but i need MS word because it has spell checker, double spacing, etc. all the things that wordpad can't do.

Legally, yes, you're supposed to buy it.

I don't know if MS sells Word separately anymore. Might have to buy Office.

Or use something like Kazaa...

You used to be able to buy each component in Office seperately.

I know I can get the components for my Jornada.

Try microsoft's website if you want to buy them.
Or try morpheus or some other sharing program.

It comes with MS Office. Just download a copy or get it burned from a friend. It's overpriced for individual end-user use anyway. I don't even think MS gives a flying funk if the typical user pirates it anyway. Not really worth the money to investigate and prosecute one man. If I were at the head of a multibillion dollar company, I'd be more concerned with medium-to-large businesses trying to weasel their ways out of 100 user license through which I could rape them financially. =)
