I'm trying to back up all my messages (dating back to Jan 1 2000) so that I can reformat my drive. Problem is that the standard Outlook export does not seem to save the received/sent dates on the mail messages.

I remember that Outlook Express had all the inbox and stuff saved as a file in a particular folder, but Outlook does not seem to have any such folder.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

arrogant prick

it is FAR more likely that something is corrupted and you simply do not understand how to repair it.

The reason outlook gets bad press is because MORONS are not careful and get fucked by trojan horses. People write so many trojans and viruses that target this program because it is so well integrated.

Outlook is a WONDERFUL program. It is fast, versatile, and stable. Have you ever tried to use IBM's shitty, memory hogging Notes client?

Really?

Try interfacing it with PGP and then come talk to me.

In all the computer/outlook migrations I have done, I merely exported the contents at the mailbox level. This will take all information and write it to a .PST file, which can then be imported.

All messages headers, dates, and times are retained. At least in the 100+ migrations I have done.

Yep, most likely all of your stuff in outlook is already kept in a .pst file. if not, you can export whatever/everything to a pst file and then import it later.

Do a search on your pc for pst files.. depending on the os you are using, it is most likely to be in the application data program..

I work with Lotus notes and Microsoft outlook at work.. Lotus notes is okay for the database functionality but Outlook is really a great program..

Lotus Notes here. Un-encrypted though.

Here's a comment from thescreensavers.com site:

Tom from Arlington, Virginia wants to backup his Outlook and Outlook Express files. Outlook is easy, just search for a file names OUTLOOK.PST -- everything, but everything, is stored in there including your e-mail, addresses, datebook, notes, and tasks.
