MetRx Protien PlusBars - Question

Steroid_Virgin

New member
on the back of the bar, they have this info on Net Impact Carbs, and they are trying to say that even though, the bar has 25 Grams of carbs, the net effect of the carbs should only be considered as 4 grams.. is this MetRx bullshit, or is it real?

They reference this site:
www.glycemictechnologies.com

That's a tough one...

they are making all the companies "disclose" non-impact carbs, i.e. sugar alcohol and/or glycerine.
Basically, these pseudo carbs were never included in the carb count because the claim is that they have no effect on insulin, so they aren't really carbs...the FDA stepped in and said they had to list them, whereas in the past, there was just a little asterick explaining that glycerine had something like 5.4 calories per gram, but wasn't really a carb...or protein...or fat....

Hmm good info addicted, so.. just say I was counting carbs, does it make dietary sense not to include the non impact carbs?? Like say if I was on Keto?

Well, they say...

they don't affect insulin, that's how they got around adding them into the nutritional profile for the longest time. If you added up the protein/carb/fat calories in the bars, it always came up about 70 or 80 calories short of the total calories listed at the top.
When I'm on really low carbs, I stay away from those bars all together....something tells me if they taste that sweet, you're releasing insulin.
