MEN: Razor Rash/Bumps

I get ingrown hairs on my neck. They aren't too bad, but they do look like pimples sometimes and I'd like to find a way to get rid of them for good.

Has anyone here found a cure, besides manually removing them with a needle? I've heard that exfoliates help.

Karma for all who respond :)

After you shave, use some Cortizone10 where you shaved. That or bikinizone works well. Personally, I get like 90% less ingrowns if I put on some Cortizone10

Cortizone works well. It's using the razor that does it. If you can get an electric trimmer that cuts close you won't get them at all. The only thing is i have to do it 2x a week, it's a flip-out attachment most electric razors.

Many black men have this just with shaving our faces. There's a product called Bump Patrol sold in enthic care store but I know they sell it at Kroger and K-mart. Best product I ever used for it. Works on other part of the body too.

Thanks for all the help, bros. Funny, I have some African in me but had no idea about the bump/black relationship.

I'm going to try each suggestion. Thanks guys.

I try to shave only every other day as to reduce the amount of rashes/razor bumps caused from shaving.

I pre-shave with an electric razor and then shave in the shower. The trick is to run the razon in the direction of the hair only. On my neck this means going left to right and NOT top to bottom.

So you really have to figure out the direction the follicles are facing, then go with them. Solved the problem for me.

I just switched to a new electric razor. Other one wasn't getting close at all, and I hate using the Mach 3 all the time b/c I always wind up cuttin myself near my lip.

I bought that Norelco that jits some nivea creme on your face. Closest shave from an electric. Pretty damn smooth until my frigging 5 o'clock shadow starts up shortly there after. Like fucking Homer Simpson when I shave.

Yeah the curly/kinky hair. The curlier a hair is the more likely it is to become ingrown when it is shaved. An ingrown is a hair in curls and grows back into the skin after it's shaved especially in looser skin like the front and back of the neck. That's why you don't see anyone with in grown hairs on the top of their head.

I have to recharge before I can hit you with green, Rex.

Well, I certainly appreciate all the ideas. I hate standing in front of the mirror lifting those bastards out.

I can see how cortizone might reduce the immune response of skin tissue, but I'm thinking that Bump Patrol is the way to go. I'll try almost anything at this point!

Peace

2 things

use womens razors. I use schick razors, the green ones, their exacly like the womens virsion.

use "KISS MY FACE" shaving cream. wal-mart sells it, it's like KY jelly. works very well keeping rashes away.

soak your beard for at least 3 minutes, no less, seriously.
shave with the growth and dont use a mach 3. only a twin razor

I've had laser removal on my neck. I've had 6 treatments and my hair still grows. It's thinner than it used to be. It's supposed to take 6-7 treatments for full removal. I would go ahead and finish it but it hurts like hell! The last treatment I got caused my neck to swell up and blister. I've been afraid to go back after that.
