Going to Pinehurst, NC for three days of Golf! Can't wait....meeting in the morning at a coffee shop and having a calcutta. A bunch of guys go somewhere every year and have a tournament for three days. It's a lot of fun!

What is the best way to get distance out of a fairway bunker? I'm OK in bunkers around the greens. I open the club face and take a full swing, but if I have a decent lie in a fairway bunker and say 150-200 yards to the green, do I still hit two inches or so behind the ball?

You don't want to take any sand when you hit from a fairway bunker. You want to try and "pick it clean". Takes a lot of practice but it pays off when faced with that shot. Concentrate on the back of the ball and not the sand...you'll be suprised as how much further you can hit it!
