Melatonin

How many of you guys also use this as a sleep aid? I use, and have found it puts me into a nice sleep, revived in the morning. Good product.IMO
 
Melatonin works great for me too! Melatonin is a powerful hormone. If I am on a heavy cycle then I need 6mg's a night. Off cycle 3mg's works great for me. Melatonin is must have supplement and is a very powerful antioxidant as well. I use the chewable ones made by NOW. NOW makes great supplements and their prices are some of the best out there too.
 
Go to any natural food type store. I go to Vitamin Cottage in Colorado where I live. Vitamin Cottage has ten times the brands and overall selection that any GNC store does and they are about 20% - 70% cheaper too. Also Vitamin Cottage has a nice little grocery section too. Find a Vitamin Cottage near you or a similar store. You have all the retail (and "tail" hehe) that we have plus much, much more in North Jersey bro! Also you may want to try Sam's Club or Costco. For example, I get my Whey Protein at Costco and it only runs me $19.99 for a 6 lb. container. And I don't want to hear any shit from anyone either about the quality because it's just as good as any other "pure" Whey Protein powder out there and the price is unbelievably cheap!

Well, maybe I'm the only one, but it doesn't do it for me. I took melatonin for about 1 year & could not tell any difference in my sleep at all. Did not make me sleepy or anything. I take a shot of Nyquil every night, sleep like a baby.
 
Melatonin works good for me but I have to cycle off...My body seems to get used to it. The only thing I DON'T like about it is the weird ass dreams that I have when i am taking it!
 
Try 3mg melatonin and one Unisom - keeps you from overloading on the melatonin side. The body produces melatonin naturally - I wouldn't want to take 9mg for a 6 month period or longer....

Hey Cyp that is a good idea. I have tried unisom and melatonin but not together. The unisom worked somewhat but not that great. I think the two together would be awsome sleep aide.
 
I dont know if I read this somewhere or if I am talking out of my ass but I could have swore that melatonin has an affect on youre gh levels..

Exercise-induced GH secretion is enhanced by the oral ingestion of melatonin in healthy adult male subjects.

There is evidence that melatonin may play a role in modulating pituitary secretion, although the mechanisms are unclear. We examined the effects of a single dose of oral melatonin (5mg) on exercise-induced GH secretion. In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, seven healthy male subjects undertook an initial period of graded bicycle ergometric exercise to determine maximum workload and oxygen uptake (VO(2max)). Subjects were subsequently studied on two further occasions, receiving either melatonin or placebo in random order at the onset of each study (-60min). At 0 min a period of bicycle exercise was performed for 8 min at a workload corresponding to 70% of that achieved at VO(2max). Serum GH and IGF-binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) concentration was measured at 15-min intervals from the onset of the study until 120 min post-exercise. Blood was also sampled for the measurement of plasma glucose, insulin, non-esterified fatty acids, IGFBP-3, melatonin and vasopressin concentration. There was an exercise-induced increase in GH concentration following melatonin which was greater compared with placebo as assessed by both area under the curve (P<0.01) and peak increase in GH levels (P<0.01). The peak increase in IGFBP-1 levels post-exercise was also significantly greater following melatonin compared with placebo (P<0. 01) but did not quite reach levels of significance as measured by area under the curve (P=0.07). Since exercise-induced GH secretion is thought to be mediated predominantly through a hypothalamic pathway, it seems likely that melatonin facilitates GH secretion at a hypothalamic level.

Melatonin is also an Aromatase ihnibitor !
I don't know how strong but if you do a search in yahoo it always comes up.

As a sleep aid,3mg make me sleepy throughout next day and ruin my workouts (i don't take ephedrine or any other uppers).So from now on i'll be taking it only preceeding off days.
 
Yeah, if I take it 60 minutes before WO, I get sleepy after my WO. Today is the first day that I have not fallen asleep (not yet) pwo from taking pre wo melatonin.
