what techniques and methods do you employ?

how often do you do it?

what is your typical ritual?

how have you benefited from it?

I like doing mind-body breathing exercises. Where you try to focus on something like and object(candle, symbol, etc.) then you control your breathing to try and get your body in sync with your mind. Then you slowly peel away all your thoughts as you drift towards tranquility. I like using my Buddhist prayer bowl to help me "drift focus" as the chiming subsides you have to focus on it more and more and your other thoughts get left behind.

I haven't been doing it much lately but used to almost daily. My life has been a little too hectic to do it lately which in itself is cause to try and meditate more.

Cheers,

Yoga is very effective for relaxation.

We have a few yoga classes at my gym and the ladies love it.

There are a few different types of yoga, but I have never really gotten into it at all.

There are quite a few MEN who take yoga as well.

If you want some help getting started, check out some of the hemi-sync cd's.. You can download them from any p2p program or buy them. You listen to them through headphones, a separate beat is played in each ear and produces a separate tone in your head..

I've used these cd's to help meditate before falling asleep and to help me have more lucid dreams.

cool thanks....are you into lucid dreaming too? i have a book i've been meaning to read about that

yeah, Ive read a bunch about lucid dreaming, have tried smoking different herbs, using dream pillows, etc..

Pretty much what ive stuck with is a dream pillow that I put some mugwort oil on every once and awhile.. I will also occasionally drink some chamomile tea and/or have a melatonin pill..

Something else that has worked well has been to wake up early and stay awake for 10 minutes or so and then go back to sleep.. When falling asleep it is easier to realize you are starting to dream.. taking a nap in the afternoon may also work like this.

Also.. check out the movie Waking Life, it is much to do with lucid dreaming..

cool man, i've heard of that movie.....it's animated right?

i'll have to check some of this stuff out

Yeah, I do it. I don't really have a specific technique. I read some articles on it. Probably just picked up the techniques over time without realizing it. Basically, I just slow down my breathing,( it comes natural with time) and let my mind go blank. I let my body totally relax and tell myself that I don't give a fuck about anything.
