Has anyone ever experienced kidney stones? If so, what was the procedures that you took and how long was it for the recovery? Thank you for all your input, it is greatly appreciated.

Its called Lithotripsy. Call a local Urologist and see if they have one. If you have a stone, thats the only way to go. It will take about 45 minutes to have the procedure, they will give you some pain meds to allow it to be fairly painless, and you can walk out....

extra shockwave lithootripsy....they shake the stone up with ultrasound

i think they can stick a small wire in your urinary tract/ureter and prod the stone still it breaks up too

they will decide the best options and give you a summary....u cant use the shockwave stuff oin all cases

on another not, i drink a litre of milk a day. calcium stones here we come :(

Is this something I can do in the doctors office or is it done only in the hospital?

It depends on how severe your kidney stones are and how many of them you have. I've heard that they are really painful (although I've never had them myself), but if you complain about it enough, the doc will let you go through the procedure instead of passing them. Good luck with it.

Here is some pretty general information.

Thank you sweetie, they are extremely painful. I was in the emergency room for eleven hours on Saturday night until midday on Sunday. They gave me a bunch of meds to take and to wait a week to see if I can pass them. The pain meds are not seeming to work anymore. The other meds they gave me just make me want to sleep. I have another doctors appointment tomorrow. I can't wait for this to be over.

Oh man...I'm sorry to hear that. I've taken care of people pre-op and post-op...and let me tell you...there is a HUGE difference in their pain level! (obviously..lol) I would get to the doc as quick as you can...keep on his butt until you get what you need to have done. No one deserves that amount of pain. It's horrible to watch, too. I'm thinking about you! :)

Damn, I was looking at some websites and it looked like the procedure would be easy. I went to the doc today and he wants to get rid of the infection first, so he gave me a stronger antibiotic and more pain meds. How bad was the pain for you? How long ago did you have them?
