Mayo

If mayo really that bad?
It has minimal carbs and protein, just a slight ammount of fat. I like to eat my tuna with mayo. :)

it is OK if you are on CKD

Otherwise ..... it is almost 100% fat

yes, pure fat because "real" mayo = yolk + oil that is fat + fat + a little protein

Mayo is a weakness of mine, bigtime. I love it - I could eat freakin spoonfuls of it.

I make my own with olive oil, egg yolk, and a squeeze of lemon. Mmmmmm. If you plan on doing this use regular olive oil, not extra virgin. The milder taste of the regular stuff lends itself better to mayo, IMHO.

Most real Mayo is made with a good oil, like Soybean or Safflower oil (Which I eat) and per tablespoon, it is 11grams of fat, but only 1g of that is saturated so I dont see the problem?

yea even the light tastes as good as regular helmans just eat in moderation like a tablespoon and if its not enough add some water

Generic Light Salad Dressing. The generic version of Miracle Whip Light. Dirt cheap, low in everything, and only takes a small amount to add flavor to anything. I also love the homemade mayo idea with olive oil idea, only I think I'll try it minus the yolk. That should be some healthy stuff.

Suggestion

Mayo is bad, it has all the bad fats in it, and there is an alternative.............

Im on the Body for life program and I eat loads of tuna. I also H-A-T-E it dry! Try mixing one spoonful of Fat Free plain yoghurt with a spoon of Fat Free cottage cheese, its just like Mayo :)

Most mayo's use either Olive Oil, Soybean Oil, or Safflower oil. I eat a Safflower Mayo, 7gr of the fat in is is Polyunsaturated.
