does anyone have any good mattress suggestions. i was told by a friend that simmons brand is great or tempurpedic (idea developed by NASA).

anyway im headed to 1800Mattress to check them all out and try them - especially the tempurpedic, im really interested in it. but i know i can be expensive so i want to educated before i buy! so if anyone has one they use and love, let me know. 1800mattress has a 15 day trial, so im looking forward to test driving one at home.

You will probably want to go to the store and try lying on them for a while,,you will be able to narrow your choices down that way...i personally have a serta, had it for 10, still going strong...most of your high end models from eachmanufacturer will be good..serta, sealy, simmons...my friends parrents were complaining about their spring air though,,even though it was a year or two old..they said the stiching was inferior,,,,make sure you pay attention to the stiching.

I have a Simmons Beautyrest--the one on the "bowlingball" commercial, if you remember.

It's a great mattress, but it doesn't quite stop all movement from your significant other.

One thing I'll mention: I bought mine with a pillowtop, and in the store, it seemed damned comfortable. In hindsight, I would have bought one just a bit firmer. That's all personal preference, though.

Take you time, test drive 'em, and buy a brand name.

I have a Sealy Posturpedic pillow top and it's fabulous. It has memory foam in it, which has really helped my screwed up back. I've had it for almost two years now.

Those Tempurpedic mattresses feel FABULOUS, that's probably what I'm buying next time around. But when I bought the mattress I have now, I was still in school and a Tempurpedic was a little out of my budget.

I'd say buy the best that you can possibly afford...a mattress isn't something to skimp on.

I have a Serta too, I think it's called Perfect Night though, pillow topped, nice and supportive, I really like it and I have back problems, it's very comfortable but was pricey for the set. Again, you will feel your S/O moving too so if that's an issue ...

I wanted to get a Tempurpedic but I have chemical issues and that is a problem with them -- offgassing and/or chemical smell. Ideally, if you want to buy a Tempurpedic you should think about buying the floor or display model and make sure you have an iron clad return policy. They are NOT like regular mattresses (more like water beds in that you have to get used to them) and don't work for everyone, some people never stop having problems with them.
