I mean who would want to be an architect with that type of schooling and especially math for that much money. Then the chef yuck who could work in that much heat and how come the kitchens aren't air conditioned? Thoughts?

LOL... where did they get those restaurant numbers? Denny's?

Dude, i paid my offsite catering chefs between $27.50 and $45 an hour. Granted, i cant live on that, life has expenses, but those numbers in that 'study' are fecked.

The key is 'Chef/Owner'. Nuff said.

Air conditioned kitchens? That's like trying to install AC in your back yard. I worked in a kitchen for just over 2 years, most of that time as a cook. The heat in there was hell in the summer, but you got used to it after a while. Excessively loose clothing really helped too.

Those number are whacked the fuck out. When your the " Big Dawg " aka.......The Chef in a big city, If you're no pullin' 80-90K, there's a problem!
:Chef: :tuc:

I knew you'd be in here to comment on that.

It says that's what the middle 50% make, so that would include people that work at 5 star resteraunts as well as people working at little mom and pop places in the middle of bumfuck that are earning $7/hr. I'm sure it includes fast food "cooks" as well.

Why is it soo hard to air condition kitchens? I mean you can expel heat with lots of different equipment.

aye, tis a sad truth, but how many denny's cooks went on to run, nurture and control their own business?

Curls, its a lot about paying your dues and making the sacrifices to get to where you want to be...

Now, how about Doctors straight out of medical school doing their internships? they dont get shite. But the long run is both financially appealing and both are doing what they LOVE! How many folks can say that they get PAID to something they love to do anyway, or would do for free?

pretty cool thing, i do believe...s

But you do understand what I'm saying, right? Those numbers are the average that cooks make, not the numbers that everyone is stuck between. That was my point. Plus there's a shitpod of small resteraunts and chain resteraunts in this country when compared to expensive places and catering companies that pay their chefs very well.
