so today i made a comment about how not getting in touch with me and she gave me her screen name...... this is what came up in the profile

anyone here greek? translation would be nice

You'll need a person who speaks greek to translate that. If you use a translator online, it will not pick up the slang that she probbly used in the profile.

Dude, getting her screen name is not really making progress in any real sense. Until you get a date with her there really isnt anything going on with her.

some people haven't been following.... her name is olga. its not the best of names. i'm thinking of renaming her.
 
I talked to my girl a few minutes ago. It is 6:30 am there now. She is going to try and translate when she gets to work...might take another hour or three.

Just FYI...Greeks like face to face contact...not through email, chat, or phone. From looking at her information I can tell that her spelling is not going to be perfect through chatting or email, which may very well embarass her. It is not only difficult for them to understand EXACTLY what you mean and vice versa.

Nefi is from Cyprus and she is Greek. She finished her 2nd Masters here in the US in August, went home in Sept to Cyprus.

It is very difficult for a Greek woman to even think about dating someone who is NOT Greek...

I think the last double or nothing was from Friday. I knew she would be wearing something different today, for some strange reason. You know what that reason is also.

But if you don't want to pay up I understand. Cheapass.
 
My girlfriend wore a lot of the same clothes...most of the Greeks that I know here do.

They fly 1/2 way across the world with 3 suitcases. They can only bring 3 suitcases back. In general, they don't have a lot of different clothes that they wear. They, in general, keep everything simple including their closet.

Ok, just got this from my girl. Her written English is a little rough...so please bare with...:)

B fold...where in Cyprus is your girlfriend from?I have alot of family still in Cyprus, and when I left South Africa, most went back to Cyprus........Alot of Greeks get bitched at for dating non-Greeks, not just the girls.....I had an American girlfriend and my grandfather referred to her as the katzela...which is Cypriot for the cow......My Big Fat Greek Wedding is extremely accurate for Greek Americans, but half of it is true for Greek Greeks.....no respectable Greek would do what those people did with the Greek flag........fav. part is when he calls the americans a dry piece of toast......despite all the criticism Greeks not dating non-Greeks.....alot of times it is hard because of cultural difference....Greeks are very different from many other cultures.......everyone I know that is Greek and married a non-Greek ended up having many problems becuase of cultural differences and their kids cant speak Greek and dont really care about Greek culture......

You are CORRECT!!!! Her family (except for her brother who has actually met me) does not approve.

She lives in Limassol. She works for the government in education also.

We watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding and she hardly laughed. It was all real to her. We had a lot of differences in the beginning but she is the most understanding person I've ever met. I demand that she keeps her Greek roots and she demands that I keep my American roots. Honestly...her spending a year here with me has totally changed her attitude towards Americans and she expresses that to her family on NUMEROUS occasions.

Her family also calls me Clint...with respect. Always have. Her father is an Ambassador for Greece, very respectful man, and I hope that someday he comes around.

Many Greeks have problems integrating back into Cyprus when they come to the US and study......Greeks have a certain perspective of Americans, which sometimes is good and sometimes is bad......I doubt they will ever come round........it depends on the person.....the older generation is far more strict, while the younger generation(your gf) is more open to people.......problem is do you go to Cyprus or does she come here?....I think 99.99% of Americans would not survive in Cyprus because of how things work there......I have family in Limassol....she has probably heard of my cousin and godfather....cousin currently is a professional soccer player, and my godfather used to be a professional soccer player/coach.....I have a friend in your shoes, but hes Greek-Cypriot and his gf is from Venezuela...his parents wont even meet his gf...good luck with it though

Thanks. She lived for 12 years in Saudi Arabia, got her first masters in Hungary, medical degree in Greece, and her 2nd masters here in the US. She has traveled quite a bit.

I plan to visit there in Feb-March to see what we want to do.
